Topic: IPredict is COMING SOON . . .
Message: Posted by: Greg Rostami (Nov 22, 2010 03:28AM)
Hello friends,

Even though iPredict was just rejected by Apple, Randy and I are confident that Apple will approve iPredict hopefully sometime this week.

FINALLY, I can tell you all about iPredict . . .

I'm sure many of you remember my previous discussions about the Apps that we had developed BEFORE iForce. Many of these ideas were very close to completion when we decided that iForce was a better idea then the rest of them.

There was this one idea in the beginning that we thought was very good . . . but it needed to mature.

The idea was can we create the ULTIMATE calling Mr. Wizard trick. I realized what better way to use the iPhone then to use it as a phone to call Mr. Wizard!

It was a good idea, but it had to simmer in my brain for over 14 months before it would be done.

Let me share with you, for the first time, the app description of iPredict:

The long awaited sequel to iForce "The Best Magic App EVER" is COMING SOON . . .

Imagine . . .
You're talking to your friend about a psychic named Esmeralda.
"This woman is a REAL PSYCHIC."

Hand your iPhone to your friend . . . In your phone's Contacts, show Esmeralda's info as you say . . .
"Esmeralda doesn't believe in random thoughts. For example, if you just think of a card, THAT card isn't random . . . It's CONNECTED to YOU!"

"Let's try it . . . name any card in the deck."
Your friend says "Queen of Clubs".

"You can call Esmeralda on my phone or you can use your phone."

She calls Esmeralda any way she wants.
When the phone answers, it's Esmeralda's voicemail . . .

"Sorry that you've reached my voicemail . . . but you're thinking of THE QUEEN OF CLUBS!!!"
Suddenly your friend has goose bumps as she listens to a short psychic reading about her CONNECTION to the Queen of Clubs.

• Easy to do. Includes written/video instructions and a Training Mode
• You can hand out Esmeralda's biz card, before you start, to show there's only ONE phone number
• Print Esmeralda's business card on your printer (link included)
• Customize Esmeralda's contact with your own unique name & photo
• Any card can be selected from either a real or imaginary deck of cards (No Force)
• Camouflage iPredict to make your iPhone completely examinable
• No voice recognition
• They can use THEIR PHONE !?!?

iPredict is the kind of effect that gets AMAZING reactions . . . your iPhone is so invisible that when I first showed it to people in my local Apple store, everyone was saying "Didn't you say you created a NEW magic app?! WHERE is the app?"

That's how INVISIBLE iPredict is . . . when you use it, people forget you ever used your iPhone . . . let alone an APP!

Here's what they WILL remember about your performance . . .
"I thought of a card"
"I called this psychic using my phone"
"And her voicemail told me which card I was thinking of!?"

Well enough talk. Here's a teaser performance video of iPredict . . . The REAL demo video is still being edited:

all the best,
Greg Rostami

IPredict looks great, can't wait to try it out. Would this app work on the Ipod Touch since the spectator's phone can be used to make the call?
Message: Posted by: MAOmagic (Nov 22, 2010 04:06PM)
It works on the iPad as Greg previously stated, so it will work on the iPod touch. This sounds like a really cool prediction for stage shows and such. The business card could be a good souvenir and the iPad could be used as a larger display so people could see what you are doing unlike on the iPhone/iPod touch.

This sounds really cool and I can't wait to get it, but I think I am still more excited about iForce pro.
Message: Posted by: Greg Rostami (Nov 22, 2010 05:28PM)
Hi guys,

There must have been a little misunderstanding. iPredict will not work with the iPad. There are many technical reasons why that's the case.

But the good news is, it works great on the iPod Touch. Your spectators just simply use their own phone to make the call (since the iPod Touch is NOT a phone).

As far as using it on stage, here's my FAVORITE part of iPredict. You can have anybody that has a phone call Esmeralda. Since the voicemail is based on Voice over IP, the voicemail greeting will play back on everyone's phone at the same time.

If there is one thing that I love about the Rostami Magic apps, is that they are extremely thorough. they are laid out great and have everything you could think of built in. Trying out the effect now but I like it so far. And appropriately priced. Don't think it is too high at all.

Agreed, it's priced right

A minor suggestion: the secret code for the Aces is either '01' or '14' though the latter isn't mentioned in the instructions. Is it possible to make them both '01'?
Message: Posted by: Greg Rostami (Nov 23, 2010 12:20AM)
Hi Rizzo,
I just PM'd you. Call me tomorrow and I'll help you resolve your problem.

Thanks for the comments guys.

As Randy has already posted, Apple has approved iPredict and is now available for sale on the iPhone App Store.

iPredict sells for $9.99

Over the last month I've performed iPredict in just about every setting you can imagine. Many of the tweaks that we've made to the software have come from these real life performances.

Both Randy and I are very anxious to hear your comments about iPredict.

looking forward to your posts,
Greg Rostami

When will this be available in the Australian app store?
Message: Posted by: Randy Croucher (Nov 23, 2010 01:23AM)
Hello Rizzo & everyone else...

Since neither Greg or I have seen any issues launching iPredict on our devices that we test with, I went on the hunch that maybe you have a pre-4.x OS on your device. I dug back to an old simulator and sure enough it failed. I made the mistake of using a new API that apparently wasn't available until 4.0. My bad.

I just fixed the issue and resubmitted a new version to Apple (iPredict 1.01). Unfortunately, this probably means another 1-2 weeks wait. In the meantime, if you are running an iOS older than 4.0, you should sadly hold off on making your purchase of iPredict.

Greg and I pride ourselves in testing our apps thoroughly and do everything in our power to make them as perfect as can be. We are a small two man team that does this in our spare time. This one slipped through and it is a lesson learned.

Please accept our sincere apologies if you have purchase the app and are having this issue.

Hoping for a speedy turnaround from Apple,
-Randy

Jprace,

As per your request, I also swapped the '14' for '01' in the new build I just submitted. I agree with the change.

Prizna,

There are some hard costs involved with having iPredict available in other countries. We are going to have to see how well it is received in the US and Canada first and go from there.

IPredict it will do very well in other countries! (See what I did there!) Can't wait to get this when it's released within the UK.

Seriously though I think everyone who purchased iForce was more than happy with their purchase and on this basis I'm sure that all would purchase iPredict on the strength of the previous app alone!

Best Wishes Michael

These 2 guys are real gentlemen who immediately responded to my concern which actually proved to be good so anyone using an older software version will soon have no issues. Now that's great customer service, fast and immediate once I brought it up. Anyway,I went ahead and loaded it on an IPhone 4 today and I have to say that this is a very fine effect as you clearly see in the demo. For the spectator who says "can I use my phone" and you say sure, use your own phone, go ahead and call.It blows them away. Thanks guys.

Hi Greg!

Am I assuming this will only work with US numbers or can it work with a UK number?

:)
Message: Posted by: Greg Rostami (Nov 23, 2010 08:48PM)
Hi Angelo,

At the present time this will work only with a US number. (Notice how the word "number" is singular) ;-)

But, as Randy stated above, if we see enough interest in a UK version, we will have to make it work for the UK as well.

cheers,
Greg Rostami

So, here is an odd thing. On my iOS device that I installed ipredict, I now have double contacts. It didn't happen on my iPad, or my Mac. It even duplicated Esmeralda! Which poses some issues if you can imagine. Any ideas?
Message: Posted by: Greg Rostami (Nov 24, 2010 02:39AM)
Hi MAOmagic,

Just Delete both Esmeralda contacts using your iPhone's contacts app.

The next time you launch iPredict, it will create a new Esmeralda contact for you, and you'll have only ONE Esmeralda contact.

Greg Rostami

Randy and I both would like to wish all of you a VERY HAPPY THANKSGIVING.

For those of you who will be performing iPredict during the holidays, here are a few tips and pointers.

1. If you decide to use Esmeralda's business card, hand out her business card before you bring out your iPhone and IMMEDIATELY have your spec. put the biz card in their pocket. This will hide her phone number from view until the end of the trick when you want to prove that there was only one number.

2. The current written instructions do NOT have the explanation of how I did the routine on the demo video. We are currently finishing these videos. We didn't think Apple was going to approve so fast.

To perform with a real deck of cards, just start with the deck in Si Stebbins stack. From there, if you're familiar with the stack then you'll figure out how I knew which card he put in his pocket. ;-) A more complete version of this routine will be available on the instruction videos coming soon.

3. For some strange reason, I always get AMAZING reactions from the most basic performance of iPredict. The basic performance is:

The magician introduces a "REAL" psychic named Esmeralda by showing Esmeralda's contact in the iPhone's contact list.
A spectator names any card from a deck of cards.
When Esmeralda is called from the magician's iPhone, a voicemail greeting reveals the chosen card with a brief psychic reading!

Notice how the above routine doesn't use Esmeralda's business card. It's VERY direct, FAST, and baffling.
Try it . . . You'll be shocked at how well it works. I think the old magicians saying that goes "Don't run if you're not being chased." applies here.

4. When I perform any version of iPredict, I always perform the secret move WHILE the spectator is holding my iPhone. Since the move is instant and motivated, it's completely invisible. After the move, since the iPhone is already in their hand, I instruct them to call Esmeralda by touching her contact phone number. When the trick is over, the spec will swear that you never touched the iPhone, since they were holding it for almost the entire time.

take care friends,
Greg Rostami

P.S. If you want to say Hi to us or just leave a goofy message, always remember that Esmeralda's voicemail is a REAL voicemail . . . just leave us a message after the tone, we'll be able to hear it. ;-)
Message: Posted by: MAOmagic (Nov 24, 2010 10:48AM)
Thanks forgetting back to me Greg. But it didn't just duplicate Esmeralda. It duplicated all of them! I have to delete one of each contact (all 300+). Any ideas why?

Also, a kind of neat effect I was trying with ipredict. I used a Boris Wilde deck and had them take any card and very carefully place it face down so no one sees including them. Then we call the psychic who predicted the card they chose and knew even before any of us did.
Message: Posted by: Greg Rostami (Nov 24, 2010 01:09PM)
Hi MAOmagic,

I don't think the duplicated contacts have anything to do with iPredict.

When you first launch iPredict, it simply creates a new contact called Esmeralda. The app NEVER touches any of your other contacts.

I will look further into this matter, but I really don't think iPredict duplicated all of your contacts.

Thanks for getting back to me. It's really odd. I have mobileme and all my stuff syncs, I didn't
T do anything different, or plug it into my computer. I just installed ipredict andmall the sudden duplicated contacts. It didn't duplicate Esmeralda th first time either, I uninstalled and when I redownloaded it, now there were two esmereldas as well.

Since iPredict is based on making a REAL phone call, it is currently limited to the US and Canada.
If there's enough interest, then it'll expand to other countries.

The app has already been designed with other countries in mind. We just have to find a REAL psychic in your country. ;-)

I didn't think anything could top iForce as far as iPhone/iPod Touch magic apps go, and I'm happy to say that I was proven wrong.

iPredict is simply amazing. As has been said, the creators have thought of everything to make this as deceptive as possible.

The subtleties of the program are by far some of the cleverest I've ever seen.

And at $9.99, it's an absolute steal.

When you realize the amount of work that went into making this happen, you'll realize that you're getting the deal of the century.

I have seen the demo video and I can confidently say that IPredict is a very well thought-out and a brilliant effect - It's a killer.

In my country iPhones are still to make an impact. So till then I will have to wait. :(

Wish you and your new release great success (as it has always been with your previous releases). :)

Wish you all the best and good luck my friend.

Thank you so much Philemon & Jeff Prace,

Ever since we created iPredict, I've shown it to many iForce customers. It's been REALLY interesting to hear who thinks which app is better.

They are VERY different from each other. The die hard iForce fans still think iForce is better; and others think that iPredict is more clever. As the creator of both, I'm happy either way. ;-)

Over the last month, I've been performing iPredict a LOT.

The reactions that iPredict gets are interesting. The most basic performance of iPredict gets great INSTANT reactions (the next demo video will show you that).

In contrast, the most advanced performance (with a real deck and a spectator calling on their phone) gets a bizarre quiet and stunned reaction (that's the one you see on the demo video). It has a delayed reaction . . .

On Thanksgiving eve, Bob Kohler performed iPredict for many magicians during Mac King's Thanksgiving dinner. I wasn't there, but the next day Bob told me the list of magicians included some big names that I hope will speak about iPredict in the near future. I'm very happy to say that Bob got his copy of iPredict the morning of that day . . .

When we first designed the method of iPredict we were really surprised by how easily we could do the secret move with 100% accuracy. I think you'll fall in love with this new method just like I did.

Thank you all for your support . . . I can't wait to hear about your performances with iPredict.
Greg Rostami

Posted: Nov 28, 2010 5:24am
OK . . .

I HAVE to tell you something REALLY COOL.

Never has there been a trick where the creators get to experience the reactions from magicians performing the effect.

Listening to the voicemail recordings of YOUR performances is AMAZING . . . some of your spectators curse . . . others call Esmeralda "Devil Woman" . . . and others just yell and cheer "NO WAY!!"

I need to consult my attorney about this, but at some point, I'm going to compile some of the funny voicemail responses that YOUR spectators have left for our beloved psychic!!

stay tuned . . . I hope I can legally play some of these funny messages for you . . .

Hi Andrew,

The number that is being called is in Los Angeles, CA USA. So if your calling plan in Canada doesn't include the US then yes . . . you're making an international call.

Hi Greg this does look very good... Im from the UK and would be interested in the UK version... Also wanted to ask is there a charge for the call.. and what is the cost...

Also couldn't we still use this in UK and just say this is A Psychic From the USA etc.. and still call it.. but would this be an international charge...

Or is it done over Internet connection as you mentioned VOIP like skype etc...

Thanks for your reply in Advance...

I'll add my voice to the chorus here. iPredict is a very clever and well-worked out magic app. Let's face it, all these technological card reveals and versions of Mr. Wizard have similar base methodologies. The difference between them is in design and application of subtleties. It's here that iPredict really excels. Rostami and his partner have used the attributes of iOS to make the iPredict effect both seamless and convincing. I think the concept of the app -- that you have the phone number of this mindreader -- really hits a sweet spot between something everyday (a phone call) and something kind of magical. I love stuff where you don't have to bust out into "magic mode" to do. Here, you can just say you have a friend who likes to do predictions over the phone and take it from there. The phone recording sounds perfectly natural (I guess because it is), and I love how "Esmerelda" gives a happy little reading centered around the spec's card choice. It sort of ends the trick on a sweet note. This is highly rated from me.
Message: Posted by: boinko (Nov 29, 2010 07:52AM)
Bought this, and I'm reading the included instructions. My only concern -- and there's an easy way around it -- is asking the spec or specs to reveal the card prior to the call. Wouldn't the stronger moment be to have the spec simply select a card from the deck and then use Esmeralda to actually reveal the card? Maybe this is more of a magic than a mentalist approach?

There's a fairly straightforward way to do this -- but that's the first thing that struck me about the routine. One of those "if you're a magician/mentalist, shouldn't you tell *me* the card?" moments.

Thoughts?
Message: Posted by: bugjack (Nov 29, 2010 09:23AM)
I don't disagree with you, but you could ask the same question about Bwave, Invisible Deck and many other tricks. As Greg said earlier on this thread, you can use a stacked deck or a peek or some other method to achieve this.
Message: Posted by: Greg Rostami (Nov 29, 2010 09:48AM)
Hi boinko,

The demo video of iPredict demonstrates EXACTLY what you're asking for.

1. Spec thinks of a card and removes it from the deck while the magician's back is turned.
2. Esmeralda's voicemail reveals the chosen card.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zkDtf3r8WU

As bugjack stated, you can choose any method you like to determine the identity of their card . . . peek, marked cards, key card, stacked cards, etc. . .

They use different methods, hence it's the PERFECT solution for when you need to repeat the same effect to the same audience.

I just updated Esmeralda's business card link.
Now you can either download a business card with Esmeralda's name and number on it, or you can download a blank business card that you can use to overlay your OWN contact name.

Some of you had emailed me about that, so now you can present iPredict with your own unique name.

Hey Randy or Greg, I saw something with iPredict that I still can't get fixed. I mentioned before about the duplicated contacts. Well, It happens only inside of the app. If I open my contacts, they are all normal. But when I open the app, it has 2 of everything! I already tried deleting the app and reinstalling. I am uploading a video to youtube right now so you can see for yourself, but be forewarned, the video looks like crap since I recorded it with my phone. But you can at least see what I am talking about. I'll post the link in a few minutes.

But, I still want to get to the bottom of this hence why I would love to talk to you in person. I left you my mobile number in my PM. You can call me between 9:00AM to 6:00PM PST.

Thanks weapon . . .

During this holiday season, I performed a LOT of iPredict. I had a chance to video a few of them. So here's the YouTube link:

I'd love to know what you think,

If you have an iPhone or iPod Touch, you can purchase iPredict in Austria.

Every time you perform, you'll be making an international call to the US.

Hello friends,

The Instruction video for iPredict is now available.

For those of you who own iPredict, simply go to the "Settings" page, touch "Online Videos", and select "Instructions".

This short video will explain EXACTLY how I performed the demo video of iPredict.

Sorry about the long delay for this video. The holidays really got in the way.

Hi Greg,
I am probably being a bit stupid but after I have touched the card and I press the number I don't get a message it just ends the call. I live in the UK

Thanks
Tom

Hi Tom,

I've PMed you.

I think this is a great app and purchased it in the UK. However, nowhere on the app store blurb does it say that you'll have to make a call to the US. Its therefore misleading. I'm disappointed because I only found that information out by coming on here. I can't expect my spectator to make a call to the US on their phone.

Hopefully UK calls will be available soon.

Also PMed you Greg, apparently having the same problem: my iPhone does not recognize the number and I am not able to edit it...

Thanks in advance! :)

Yes it's indeed a great app! I knew that I had to make a call/send a text to the US when I purchased it (and I'm fine with that since the effect is really nice) but apparently when you're outside of the US only calls are available... :S and I only wanted to use it with texts since I mostly perform in bars where it's not ideal at all to make calls... Anybody has a way of making texts work? Apparently the iPhone (just got one, always used Blackberry phones before) is able to detect the country but only to make a call, not for texts... which sounds weird... Anybody managed to solve this problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, not sure I will use this otherwise...

Thanks guys!

Goldeneye, are you using Ipredict........ or Ipredict Pro?
Message: Posted by: goldeneye007 (Apr 17, 2013 03:41PM)
Hi Rasp, I'm using Ipredict! The one that predicts a playing card.
I'm mostly interested in the text feature, not so much in the voicemail... Can't understand why the iPhone manages to detect the country for a call (even if it takes time) but not for a text...
Message: Posted by: Greg Rostami (Apr 17, 2013 08:19PM)
Hi goldeneye007,

With iPredict Pro you can get a local phone number in the UK that supports both calling and texting.
With iPredict Pro you can customize both the voice and text messages.

It's available for $99.99 on both iOS and Android.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Thanks Greg, good to know.

I'm mostly interested in playing cards predictions so iPredict Pro would be a little too complex for what I need but I'll think about it.

Too bad that the text feature for iPredict (normal version) is not available outside the US (and I'm not sure it's stated when you purchase it, I only remember a warning regarding the fact that people using this App have to call/text to the US, and not that it is strictly restricted to calls when you're using it outside the US but maybe I'm wrong).
Message: Posted by: rasp (Apr 19, 2013 10:17AM)
Goldeneye, I can highly recommend predict pro !!!
Message: Posted by: goldeneye007 (Apr 19, 2013 02:21PM)
Thanks for the advice rasp. Quick question to be sure then: can you perform EXACTLY the same effect as iPredict with iPredict Pro (i.e. a card prediction)?
Thanks! :)
Message: Posted by: rasp (Apr 19, 2013 04:26PM)
It is so much more......you can virtually predict anything. Text or voice and also use your own voice.

The only problem that I ran into was because I am with 'tesco mobile', turns out that they must be the only bloody service provider that does not offer the one fundamental thing that makes it perfect. There is a way around this however.

Sorry for being cryptic, but don't want to let Greg down by disclosing anything.

Regards,

Ian.

No it's fine Ian, thanks, I completely understand!

Again, I'm only interested in texts so if what you mention is more about the voice I don't really mind (although I'm sorry if it's a trouble for you of course :s)

Thanks for your input!

Regards,

Ben

You won't regret getting iPredict Pro. Period.
Message: Posted by: rasp (Apr 20, 2013 08:31PM)
If it is only texts then you should be ok.

Will iPredict+ be updated for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6+ screen resolutions? Also, the Ace of Hearts number is not working. I'm not sure if there are others that aren't working.
Message: Posted by: Greg Rostami (Dec 3, 2014 04:17AM)
Hi Josh,

The Ace of Hearts is the only one.

I'm working on it.

Hi Greg,

I recently switched from an iPhone 4 to an iPhone 6. A problem I encountered is that I can no longer use this app because I can't bypass the fake lock screen pictured here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2343344/Photo%20Dec%2005%2C%2012%2035%2033%20AM.png

Pressing the blank box at the bottom left corner of the screen no longer does anything. This problem must have been introduced with the release of iOS 8 because I noticed that I am having the exact same issue with the fake lock screen on 21st Century Prediction app as well: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2343344/Photo%20Dec%2005%2C%2012%2036%2046%20AM.png

Hopefully you're already aware of this issue and it will be addressed in the next update?

Thank you for your continued support and for releasing so many amazing apps to the magic community!

I don't have an iPhone 6 but let me suggest a small fix to see if it works until Greg can get a more permanent fix.

Step 1. Delete the app from your iPhone
Step 2. Go to your Apps page and click on "purchases" then reinstall iPredictPro.
Step 3. You will have to reinstall your Twilio number
Step 4. Make sure Passcode on launch is turned OFF.

You should now be able to use iPredict Pro just without the Passcode feature. I know it is not a perfect solution but it may be a temporary solution to get you back up and running.
Message: Posted by: Phatmeat (Dec 5, 2014 01:13PM)
Hi Gordon,

Thank you for your reply. Deleting and reinstalling the app is exactly what I ended up doing. Thankfully Passcode on Launch is turned off by default, so I can continue to use the app as long as I don't enable that feature. Like you said, it's a good workaround until the issue gets resolved. I did the same thing with 21st Century Prediction.

Thanks again, appreciate the feedback!

After switching to an iPhone 6 I noticed that the "Wait For Tilt" feature no longer functions as it should. Has anyone else encountered this issue?
Message: Posted by: terrillific (Jan 16, 2015 04:08PM)
When I try to open iPredict+ app and the stock prediction screen comes up and I am unable to open it past there by hitting the blank the space at the bottom left. I’ve tried it multiple times. I even deleted it and reinstalled and the problem still exists. I have the iPhone 5.

This is the same issue I’m having now.

When you reinstall it you have to turn Passcode off... That should work until a more permanent fix is available.

Hi
I installed the Ipredict pro on my android a week ago and can't go to record the massage.
Once I go to the Twilio I get the following massage:
“please enter, you have made a selection through the application” and the call is disconnected!

I compared the phone setting and the Twilio setting with a friend, everything looks the same and still can't record the massage.
I re-install the app and still I am getting the same massage.

Does anyone got the same problem and succeed to work it out?

I just spoke with Greg and he solve the problem...now I can work with it as well

So if my country is not listed, I can't use this apps?
Message: Posted by: eb02 (May 3, 2015 01:20PM)
Check with Greg
Message: Posted by: Failed Magician (May 10, 2015 09:43PM)
Greg has replied to my questions. Apparently only those whose countries are listed in the apps can actually use the apps since it will make a real phone call. Oh well, I hope he will release it for more countries.
