Topic: Pavlovs Puppets

Can anyone refer me to someone who can make puppets similar to Pavlov's? Felt puppets with painted accents.

I own about 5 puppets of theirs and LOVE THEM! 2 year ago I paid roughly $300 per puppet including shipping. Since then they have had two price increases almost doubling the cost of their puppets.

What used to be a $300-$400 investment is now $600-$700 investment. Not sure what has happened but they have priced their product out of my price range now.

I own tons of Axtell puppets and they are the best, but I need someone who can create a custom animal for me that is same quality as Pavlov's but can meet the $300-$400 price range.

I wish Pavlov's had remained a little more affordable. I am a school teacher and it looks like now their puppets are priced so that only professional will purchase them.

Any references on a new resource I would sure appreciate it. I hate to leave Pavlov's but I feel like they have left me and lots of other teachers, bible school and churches behind with their new pricing.

Thanks,

Bart

Thanks for the recommendations. I have found a few resources that I have sent quotes for.

Axtell can cover 99% of what I need but I need to find another puppet builder who can make custom puppets in $300-$400 range.

I am going with Frankie in Singapore for my custom puppet. Hoping it comes out looking great. Need to wait until March because Uncle Sam has to be paid first!

Just curious does anyone know why Pavlov's prices have gone up so much. Still sad that they are now out of my reach and I am sure I am not the only one who can't afford paying $600+ for a puppet.

I don't know why the prices have gone up, but I know Pavlovs are still worth every penny. I get tons of compliments from people on my cast which are almost all Pavlovs. I use their (he's my star) as well I have the beaver an a customized sheep. I also have their reindeer that I use in my Christmas shows.

From what we've seen of his work in another thread, I'm sure it will come out looking great.

I think $300-400 can get you a nice "stock" puppet, you might get a change of colour or clothes but if you want a custompuppet you are going to have to budget a lot more that that!

I'm guessing they have lots of orders...

...plus a custom puppet is really expensive.

Just like a Selberg... a custom figure is almost ten times more expensive than his regular figures.

In the end...it's the quality of the puppet that will justify the price :)

From what I understand, their office used to be in Czech Republic (or something like that). The costs is lower there. Now they are in France, which means that their costs is higher. Someone may want to verify this.

You mean someone should...

...Czech it out?

Bwahahahahahaha!

Sorry as h*ll about that. Couldn't help it.
Pardon my French.

As a followup. Ivan has been willing to work with me on bringing the price down to a more affordable level.

I ordered a Lion and Otter from him.
