Topic: Outlaw's Chiller and Departed Score an Actual Hit
Message: Posted by: Dreadnought (Jun 15, 2011 09:00AM)
I know this sounds crazy. I also know there is no way to prove it to a satisfactory point. But while rehearsing for an upcoming show this weekend the two effects actually scored an actual hit in terms of a ghostly presence.

The show is booked at El Drusso's Magic House in Atlanta. Apparently, the place is haunted. While going over the stage lighting last Friday, I saw a shadow on the stage move left to right through the spotlight. The owner of El Drusso's, Dru Lozano, was working on configuring the lighting and sound. I asked him if he fired the fog machines. He said no. I asked him, are you sure? Without looking up from the mixer and computer, he said, "The smoke machines are not even plugged in why?"

I told him, "I just saw a shadow move from left to right across the stage."

Dru stopped and looked at me and asked, "You saw that?"

I replied, "Yeah, plain as day."

He then said there is a ghost in the place. And he has made his presence known from time to time.

At first I thought he was kidding me. But then I realized he was serious. The assistant later showed up and she confirmed the place is haunted. Later that evening, after we were discussing some details concerning the presentation of a routine, the bell on the Departed rang. Dru said to Fabiana, the assistant, don't run Scott's batteries down. I told him the batteries were removed and showed him the battery compartment. As we were looking at the battery compartment, with the bell and the ball both still, both sounded at the same time and rather loudly almost like someone slapped the two. I have never been able to get both to sound at the same time.

Monday evening while at rehearsal again and using Chiller for the first time in the routine, all three thermometers registered hits. It was done so in a way that whatever caused the hits moved from left to right across the stage. The temperature in each dropped almost 15 degrees and then rose and the Departed suddenly fell over on the table and then to the floor.

Considering both are used in conjunction with Luna, it will be interesting to see what happens Saturday night.

Sounds like it will be a good show Saturday night. Good luck.
What kind of cut are you going to give the ghost? And how do you pay it?
I have my Departed stored (no batteries) on a shelf in my bedroom.
I've been waiting for the bell to ring or the ball to rap.
Noting yet. Then again, I don't know what I would do if they did.

It's actually pretty disturbing. As for giving the ghost a cut, I am following the magician's code and taking credit for everything. Stuff levitates and gets thrown at the audience, I'm just bowing.

It sounds like the beginning of a Wes Craven movie.

Whatever you do -- if there's an unexplained power failure do NOT under ANY circumstances go down to the spooky basement in your underwear. It never turns out well.

I think I would have messed my pants.

I'll keep that in mind david...no basement during power failure.

Well Wiz, what I forgot to include was the decoration suddenly crashing to the floor on that Friday night. The three of us about did soil our pants. At that point, the rehersal was over. It seems the entity doesn't like or is really curious about the supposed seance that is scheduled.

You need to include this experience in your performance.

Surely there is no such thing as a fake Spirit bell... even if you can manipulate a bell to ring on command by some devious method, there is still the chance it can be rung with another force, e.g. your finger or a Spirit.

Why would it be crazy for a Spirit to ring a Spirit bell in a haunted theatre? Always saddens me how many people make money from Spirit and don't actually believe in the existance of what butters their bread.

As to including this in your show, how can you? What makes this interesting is the fact the batteries were out of it, and you can hardly tell your audience that little snippet, on the other hand to mention that the Spirit bell your audience have witnessed ringing during the show for themselves also rung during rehearsal, would'nt they just think "so what?"

You have been given a gift to ponder, please don't look a gift horse in the mouth and leave words like "crazy" for the less fortunate.

I should also mention having run through the thread again that I once knew a guy that ran a ghost hunt in a haunted building.. every time he did it there was very real activity in a specific room, next day he paid some money into a children's charity, he swore the activity only happened on a regular basis after he made the offer to the Spirit in the room and made the payments.

I said crazy because there are those who don't believe.

As for the final rehearsal last night...

While performing Luna, I asked for the presence (Luna presence) to give us a sign of their presence. Suddenly the fog machine fired twice. Then something touched the assistant on his shoulder, then the fog machine started firing like it was freaking possessed. Filled the whole room with smoke. Just before that batteries in everything were completely drained.

Tonight is the show. No telling what will happen.

Show was a success. Our spectral visitor did make an appearance. In the Luna phase, he did ring the bell on Departed and the spectator assisting me said he felt something brush past him on the stage. A woman in the audience said she felt someone touching her hair. When the bell on the Departed rang, prematurely, I looked at the assistant and she had a handful of burger and soft drink; she just shrugged her shoulder. Cool show, maybe the Ghost Hunter guys, Grant and Jason, should buy Outlaw's Departed.

Oh yeah, then the lighting went haywire.

Good news about the show. I would think if word got out about the haunting, there would be SRO.

Just remember what I said about NOT going into the basement during a power failure in your underwear.
