Topic: Suggestions for a Billet Box
Message: Posted by: Aspinalls (Feb 9, 2012 10:10AM)
Hi Folks,

I really need some help!

I am looking to purchase a "Billet Box" (I want to switch lots of paper suggestions). There are some around but they seem very expensive. Does anyone know of one too expensive box to purchase?

With many thanks!

Make one. The instructions are Corrinda's 13 steps to mentalism.

The OM box is easy to make yourself, and you'll find instructions for making it and my variations on it in my Mini-Mysteries Book 2 section on my site.

Bob Solari has instructions for a very clever gaffed gift box on his recent 2-disk DVD set.

I've made one with no instructions. Not high tech but totally useable.

If you think about what you want you can probably cut glue and paste this project.

It will be a size and color you want.

By the way, try not to make the decoration mystical. Go for a "made by a Teacher for the classroom" or plain look and it will be less suspect.

Put a mirror on the floor to approximate the audience in front if you are working on stage or for semi-circled kids on the floor and check your angles.

Good luck!

You can use a mini cake pan. It is like a Dove pan but much smaller.

Or a change bag.

I have found that the Viking Magic Chameleon chest is the "Best of Class" for this type of effect.......

Take a look here: http://www.vikingmagic.com/Chameleon-Chest

Agreed Rainboguy. The Viking box is a worker and priced right. Works flawlessly and should last a lifetime.

Also, let me say that the supplied written routines for the Viking Magic Chameleon Chest are PHENOMENAL.....and worth the price of admission by themselves, in my opinion.

Can the Viking box be shown empty before switching out billets.

The only other wood billet box I know is Owen Billet Box, will cost several hundred dollars if they are still making any. You would have to contact them for availability and current pricing.

Asking for information in a mentalist forum might yield better results but a great and very simple option might be The Open Billet Box by Steve Pellegrino available as a download at Lybrary.com

Andy Martin has quite a few on his site...some extremely expensive...but it shows some of what is out there.

While I haven't got the Amazebox my self, I noticed when The Wizard Product Review talked about it, that it does have a limit to the number of vbillets you can put in it ( of course all boxes have limits, but this ones limit was not that high) so if the OP needs a lot of billets this product may not be for him ( good suggestion from Bill though - the Amazebox looks fantastic anyhow) I'm with the guys saying build one yourself 😊. I think a dovepan like design would be the way to go if you need to switch a lot of billets 😊

The Menta box by Viking is also good for switching out billets.

I think the post by Rainboguy is still correct. Chameleon Chest is best of class and still a very reasonable price for something so well made IMO.

The website changed though: https://www.vikingmagic.com/product/chameleon-chest-viking-becker/

Although nearly impossible to find, if you want the Ferrari of Chameleon Chests, here it is:

The picture doesn't do the Mighty Mini justice, but you can see Larry Becker and Max Krause demo it in a video here:

The original price was $289. Not now!

I used to produce Ultimate Billet Box. The advantage you can show the interior of the box empty . Collect the billet than do the switch as you wish.
