Topic: Envelope prediction

I am looking for an envelope prediction effect, for our works party. It will start in a restaurant, which is where I want to do it, by handing out the envelopes with the predictions in and letter revealing them. There will only be about seven us maximum.

I have 13 Steps, Mind Myth and Magic, Paramiracles, Practical Mental Magic, Theatre of the Mind.

Has anyone got any suggestions either from these books or, perhaps others Bob Cassady? Max Maven? etc.

hope some of you can help

I'd love to point you in the right direction, but need a better idea of what you mean by "envelope prediction."

Martin Lewis "Technicolor Prediction" in his lecture notes and "Creating Magic" video.

I want it to be a sort of, when the envelope is open it will say, you chose the ??? item.

Or maybe even something off the menu.

where can I get these notes?

Are you refering to a multiple out? Im going through several books now looking at adding effects and several envelope ideas are conveyed, especially Anneman's.

No, not really muliple outs, just a straight correct prediction in the envelope.

Try the Piatt Envelope. Mulitple outs can be really powerful in the right hands.

Well, thinking broadly,

* Anything that can be forced can be in the envelope ahead of time, no problem.

* You can use some or all of the envelopes in a pre-show mode - to obtain information that a spectator writes on a card and places in the envelope for later

* You can switch/add a card to the envelope after you know the result

* You can use a multiple-out envelope

Just a few ideas - specific methods are in the books you have.

How about an add-a-number.
Have each of 3 specs look at the menu and write down a price of any item. Each spec does this. Then you have the cashier add the prices together and announce the total out loud.

You then have the cashier take the bill/receipt out of a sealed envelope where upon you have already written the total.

(It could be a little more amusing and mystifying if you had the cashier calculate the tax and tip as well, and your prediction matched the new total!)

One of the greatest utility envelopes for the Mentalist, the "Proteus", was created by Al Mann. Many people overlook this item in his manuscripts. Properly prepared and performed, it is a real killer!
