Topic: Which book to read first
Message: Posted by: sc24evr (Oct 9, 2003 04:48PM)
Hello all,

I know this subject has been beaten to death but I want to hear your opinion on a similar subject. I just bought both Pratical Mental Magic by Anneman as well as 13 Steps to Mentalism.

I am really interested in getting a good start into this art so which book should I read first? thank you very much :)

In all seriousness, I don't understand the question. You own both books, so I assume you intend to read both books. The two books, in either order, together will give you the foundation you seek.

I just want to see which book I should read in which order. Is one more advanced than the other? I don't want it to be like reading Expert Card Magic and then Royal Road. see what I am saying?

I would agree with "rgranville", but since you asked, go ahead and read 13 Steps first. Why not, you'll get more out of your first run-through of Annemann's book.

I second rgranville. You have heaps of material to work with here. When I first started to look into mentalism, those two books were the only ones I had for more than 5 years.
They give you the basics, the classics and the philosophy on mentalism.
Start with 13 Steps and work you way through it.

Sven has the best answer but do please follow his instruction of "working your way through it" and learn it step by step instead of skimming and looking for tricks or learning it piecemeal.
