Topic: Sean Field's " Sickness Trilogy " Rocks!
Message: Posted by: Devious (Oct 22, 2012 03:52PM)
Graphic Illusion. Shock Magic. Geek Magic. Whatever you call it, nothing gets a stronger reaction. And nobody knows that better than Sean Fields. Just watching the work that went into this demo CLIP is a trip!

Saw - Sean's legendary signature effect as performed by Criss Angel on MINDFREAK. A ring is swallowed. What happens next is unspeakable. The performer slowly saws into his neck with a string! The audience actually sees the string buried deep in the performers’ throat. When the string is then ripped out from the magicians’ neck, the audience can see the flesh tear! When the string emerges, the ring is threaded on yet the performer is unharmed.

Sick - Sean's classic interpretation of one of Criss Angel's signature effects from MINDFREAK. A coin is borrowed and swallowed. The performer begins to force the coin through his body, down his arm. He slices into his wrist with a razor blade, and slowly, the signed coin emerges from the wound!

Excise - The classic needle illusion, as envisioned by Sean. A thread is shown and placed in the performers’ mouth. He begins to swallow the thread slowly until only 1/2 remains hanging out of his mouth. He then introduces a needle and slowly, deliberately, he begins to insert the needle into his throat. Finally, he begins to pull the thread out of his neck! As the thread emerges, the needle is seen also emerging, tied onto the thread!

You now have the Sickness. This is The Trilogy.

My hats off to Luke Dancy for his excellent video production work on this project
and to Sean Fields for bringing his vision and ideas to the project.

This is worth checking out folks! It gets my nod, ~Devious

Man, that is some insane looking stuff right there ! Almost made the Donkey sick !!!
Message: Posted by: Devious (Oct 22, 2012 10:53PM)
I'm rewatching this for a second time tonight.
I will be back with some more specifics very soon gang.
Get Sick, it's a good thing in this case!

Luke Dancy and the team at The Magic Place really put lots of effort
into this project, it really shows. It's on a very advanced level as far
as production quality goes, not to mention the effects.

Geek magic is not something I normally present, but during certain events
this material is very apropo. It made a believer out of me as far as practicality goes.

Back to the insane asylum for now, signing off!

Devious, I'm looking forward to your professional thoughts on this. I'm a big fan of Sean Fields and can only imagine how good this is.

There are three very strong effects in this dvd. In The "Sick" effect you swallow a marked coin,
then slice your wrist, wherein the coin can clearly be seen emanating from the cut is worth
the price of admission folks. The effects are simple to perform and require minimal sleights.

The marvelous thing and certainly the kicker is that you can use an alcohol pad to get clean
right in front of your groups with absolutely no questions. You don't need to get clean, if you
decide to seal your wounds. It actually reinforces the effect because it makes your wrist even
bloodier due to the smearing from the alcohol, but then again it's your choice.

* You can get set up hours ahead in advance with minimal discomfort.

* These effects can be performed with common household items you most certainly have laying around.
The instructions and technique make performing this almost idiot proof. These are not strolling
effects, but you can perform them for special moments as a punctuation mark. Having said that
all three effects allow you to reset almost instantaneously.

I am happy to answer any more questions if you are feeling SICK.

Wow - ya picked a good one here, Devious! :bg:

I love the look, though this probably, uhh, isn't one I'd do at, say, my niece's wedding early next year... :hysteric:

I don’t know but I'd guess that the setup isn't as easy as I'm thinking?

Thanks!

Sean must have seen me perform.

If Devious says the material is strong, then it's strong!

@ J-Mac,
Brother Jim, the setups are super simple and take less than a few minutes.
some of the methods are not new, but the "Sick" technique effect was new to me.

EXCISE
Where you swallow a needle and string has a very strong convincer as the string
gets sucked into your mouth, whilst pulling it out of your neck is fun to see.
I also learned a few new ideas in this presentatiion.

When I performed this last night, I pretended to be sewing a button onto my black
shirt with black thread. I decided to insert the needle into my neck and my lady
friend freaked. I waited for her to come in the room, so to her it seemed impromptu
and the motivation for the magic was not forced.

I am going to tell you that once you know the methods, as you watch it being
performed still makes you cringe. It's that strong a visual.

David Regal's "Ring Chain" could be coupled with "SAW" quite nicely.
I'd be curious to hear Luke Dancy's thoughts on putting this together.

I have "Sick" and have used it, its good, really good. Set up is minimal and the coin exiting the wound looks increably real. Sean's magic may not be for everyone but.......it definately good.

Hi guys,

I would say it's perfect for the upcoming Halloween...
Unfortunately I couldn't find a downloadable version :( I already own Sick and therefore I would prefer a download.

Besides the shipping to Germany is too expensive... almost 30$...
Too bad. I would have loved to buy that trilogy!

Cheers

Wow! I want to start by saying thank you to devious and everyone else for their incredibly kind words!

I don't know what else I can add; devious said it all already!;)

I guess for my Café people, I could suggest these ideas...

-use something other than a ring for saw. Candy, razorblades, keys, use your imagination!
-use something other than a coin for sick. A ring, razorblade, key, bug, card, almost anything can be made to emerge!
-use excised or saw in combination with the traditonal razorblade or needle illusion...

Just a few ideas to get your juices flowing!

If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask!

SF

Ps. There will always be love peace and chicken grease for all! :-)

Devious, thanks for the kind words about the overall production of this project. I realize the focus is on the effect, effects in this case, but with each of our releases we're really trying to focus on bringing a very high production look and feel to highlight the magic that we are offering. We want learning to be easy and not look like we did it on the fly as is the case more and more these days. We take each of our releases very serious and will continue spending as much time is needed for each product to be up to a certain standard.

Glad to know the hard work is being noticed!

I just wanted to remind folks about this brilliant piece of work.
I performed some of the material for an event last night at UCSD a
top medical school with some very sharp students.

The reactions were over the top thanks Sean and Luke!

Can anyone comment on if methods for using a borrowed ring for Saw are explored, and what thoughts you have on them?

Thanks
