Topic: Searches! all forums don't work - why
Message: Posted by: Sam Sandler (Oct 25, 2012 02:39PM)
Hi there
for some time now the search feature for searching all forums wont work. you have to select one forum at a time.

so the question is am I doing something wrong or did you change it so that you can not search all forums anymore.

as searching all forums at first shot would save me a lot of time;/

thanks
sam

Sam, where have you been. This has been discussed dozens of times. Here's a link to explain.

Here's another with a lot of information.

Sam:

I use Google to search "all forums" and it works well. For example, I wanted some information on Psypher before I bought it, so I googled "Psypher review" and the first result was http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewtopic.php?topic=374155&forum=218 . I, like you, feel that searching singly over 40 or more subforums is a pain, but google has the answer (as long as what you're looking for has been indexed)

hope this helps

Your pal,

Lobsta

Also a better way to do it may be this format: <search term> site:themagiccafe.com

for example: "Psypher site:themagiccafe.com" results in all mentions of psypher across all forums.

Interesting. Flip the search terms to the end (with a space after the colon):

site:themagiccafe.com: search term(s)

Guess they both work.
