This may have been touched on before. But what uses have people come up with for the WOW sleeve? I know some will say "don't worry about it" but I'd like to hear what types of creativity others have had to come up with a purpose for that little plastic sleeve.

I came up with several. One off-beat one involves a card that turns into "Marylin Monroe"

The sleeve is great. One of the best buys around. With imagination, you can easily think of several routines!

Oh, I agree the sleeve is great and has many uses. But I was looking for a more creative response when someone asks "what is that thing"?- that I can come up with something a bit more convincing or interesting than "it is the same material as a microwave- look what it can do"

What's always worked for me is introducing the sleeve as a " discard sleeve " "You know; the kind of thing used in smaller casinos to contain the burn card when using a smaller amount of decks than the big casino's here " This has always worked for me, in fact I often see people looking to others who I assume they think know more about gambling, and they invariably are nodding their head in agreement. I'll often explain it comes from a little European casino in Monte Carlo or from a back room game in Vegas, giving me a little more intrigue and prestige, and giving a more detailed explanation that they would never be able to verify anyway.

These are great ideas. I have been sticking with the micro-wave story, saying it's a home-made "transporter"

I usually bring it out with a baseball card in it, remove the card, discuss his baseball abilities, etc & then segue into a playing card routine.

I'm not sure a prop should be considered if it means you have to work at finding a reason to explain/define it. The WOW sleeve has been a staple for me and it has never raised an eyebrow from the spec.s as far as needing me to define what it is. Like any effect, the presentation of the effect should be evoke a reaction that overrides the need to explain why you use a certain prop(s).

Very well said.

At the end of an ambitious card routine, I let it looks like the card did not jump to the top. I then remind them about the beaming machine they had on star trek (Beam me up, Scotty). I say that I have a model of this machine, placing the wrong card in the sleeve and beaming the signed one.

Wow really is limited only by your imagination.

You guys got me thinking about a routine I used to do when the sleeve first arrived on the magic scene....see what you think.

Introduce 3 blank cards and the sleeve. Inside the sleeve is another blank card, but with the gimmick set to show a face (mine is a 6 o' Hearts).

I explain as I remove the "six" that if the cards are mixed face down and the spec is able to isolate the 6 three times in a row, a special prize will be rewarded to the

lucky person.

Phase 1: Do a simple mix that makes it easy to follow the card taken from the sleeve...replace it (dont forget to activate the sleeve gimmick )and pretend that you are

excited for the spec.

Phase 2:Challenge the spec by mixing the cards so the six is more difficult to find and then regardless of the card the spec chooses, have her exchange it with any of

the three other blank facers she did not choose...put the card into the sleeve and show once again that the spec is correct.

Phase 3: Have the spec close her eyes and mix the four face down cards and eliminate one to the table (face down of course). take the card and for the last time

show that the six has once again been selected. By this time, with proper presentation, the spec and the crowd should be impressed if not very amazed!

Phase 4: Before your performance have some flash paper stored in a small packet trick wallet, a lighter in one front trouser pocket and a Hershey's candy kiss in the

other front pocket. Remove a piece of flash paper from your wallet and explain that the prize is a KISS! Give the paper a small kiss and hand it to the spectator.

She may look confused and probably (hopefully) get a light laugh out of it. Hold up your finger in a classic "wait a minute gesture" and then reach into both pockets

pretending to search for something....of course you are grabbing your lighter and finger palminmg the candy kiss. Take back the paper with the hand that conceals the

candy and light the paper...after the flash, the illusion is that the paper has transformed into the classic candy that we all associate with a "kiss"!

The routine is original up to the candy production. I wish I could rcall who I saw do this and will begin researching today so that I can respectfully credit this person.

Thanks guys. I appreciate your imagination. Some good ideas.

I'm using it with some Marilyn Monroe decks I had found. In a nutshell, the routine revolves around the sleeve being a "transporter" and the card transports from the deck to the sleeve. In the end, I tell them that it all depends on the power of the imagination, and I imagine that the 5 of D in the sleeve is Marilyn. They look at me like I'm from mars, then the card in the sleeve slowly melts into a card with Marilyn's image on it. while retaining the suit and value.

Hey Jcrabtree, should also consider the wow.20 which display the back instead of the face. It does add abit more versatility if you need to reperform it more than once to the same crowd.
As for justification, like some say - normal card sleeve. Granted it sure is a weird sleeve but the focus is not on it since it's just a "sleeve" to prevent you from doing something fishy (ironic). Get the ungaff sleeve to switch it out at the end.

I use one of my Wow sleeves along side a small brown card envelope when performing a card trick I call, The 13th ghost, I also use them with a spectators mobile phone and this sometimes get's them running off in shock, lol,i love it and I am never without one in my wallet.
