Just approved and now in the App Store !!!

Don't see it anywhere....link?

Wow .. Apple must have a backlog of entries .. probably catching up over the holidays.
Usually once they approve it .. it goes into the store within minutes. This time it took many hours.

I just received notice that it is in the store now .. probably will take time for the indexing to catch up.
The app name is "MentalistToolbox" .. no spaces.

Do you have any video demos please?
Message: Posted by: TheAmazingSteveo (Dec 3, 2013 12:49AM)
Here is a brief demo I put up ... will be making a full demo soon:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFnGVyekQck&feature=youtu.be

This shows 2 devices interacting .. one is the transmitter and one is the receiver.
The receiver is usually the iphone because it has a vibrator in it.

You have complete control over the transmitter from the receiver.
Message: Posted by: saysold1 (Dec 3, 2013 08:26AM)
Thanks! Where does one get that 5 button key fob remote? It looks like the PM receiver...
Message: Posted by: Stephen Young (Dec 3, 2013 09:12AM)
The key-fobs are available online.

I think the outer casing is the same but the innards are different.

just starting to play with this and see what I can do with it in terms of performances.

Some questions...
can be done with spectator's phone?
spectator must have any app or its done on a web or something similar?
the phones must be paired with bluetooth or can operate over internet?

Thanks!
Message: Posted by: TheAmazingSteveo (Dec 3, 2013 01:48PM)
Hi Manolo ... you need 2 idevices of your own with the app running on both of them. It works via wifi, Bluetooth 4.0 (iphone 4s, 5, 5+) or the hotspot that is in the iphone. The iphone is usually used as the receiver because you can get vibrations as well as sounds if you are using a covert earpiece such as the Phonak Invisity.

It was made so that it doesn't work with other people's phones and the internet.

What a great way to use that spare 4s phone and your updated 5 phone.
Message: Posted by: DynaMix (Dec 3, 2013 02:00PM)
So many ideas for this...I have a spare iPhone 4, but not 4s...been searching everywhere for a 4s, just for this effect. Sometimes you can get lucky with friends upgrading, and offer them whatever the trade in value is.
Message: Posted by: TheAmazingSteveo (Dec 3, 2013 02:02PM)
DynaMix, you can use the latest generation ipod too ... I think they now make a 16g version ... and can get one cheap off of ebay. I haven't tried it but I think the 4 should work using wifi or the cellular hotspot connection on the iphone 5+ or ipad with cellular. I recently updated the app before submission to Apple to run on IOS 7.0.4. You can give it a try with the iphone 4 ... once the app is purchased from the Apple Store I think you can put it on all your devices.

Connecting via Bluetooth does require BLE 4.0 (which is iPhone 4S and above).

To get the app to run on regular Bluetooth requires something like a $20,000+ fee to Apple.
Message: Posted by: Stephen Young (Dec 4, 2013 09:26AM)
I've used it with an iPhone 4 and an iPad.
Over wifi it works great.
I have a spare iPhone 3 that I'll be trying it on later today.

I will eventually catch up to the rest of the world and get a newer phone but for now it works just fine.

Message: Posted by: DynaMix (Dec 4, 2013 07:21PM)
Aren't you concerned Stephen about being somewhere without wifi?
Message: Posted by: TheAmazingSteveo (Dec 4, 2013 08:04PM)
DynaMix, even if you didn't want to use the wifi hotspot connection on the iphone or don't have a wifi connection .. you can always use this small personal wifi server by Sony that fits in your pocket or case. I tested the app out on this and it works great .. creates it's own wifi server that both devices can connect to ... also chargeable via USB port and has a SD card input.

http://store.sony.com/portable-wireless-server-zid27-WGC10/N/cat-27-catid-All-Accessories-Computers-Tablet

They also have a newer version ... can probably pick it off from ebay at a good price.

No internet connection needed.

BTW, I'm going to submit an app that just has the rvThumper module alone. You can then use the keyfob to send 1..5 vibrations to the iPhone.

Thanks Steve, I really do appreciate all of the suggestions. At this point though I'd prefer not to have three devices on me - I'm just trying to figure out the best way to use this in the most situations as possible...

Question for you - I just got a pebble smart watch. What if that is the second Bluetooth connected device?

Obviously we'd miss out on a lot of functionality - but I know you mentioned certain functions were highly customizable... Could we somehow code certain selections (like the rows of pics) to the watch?

Sorry for all of the questions and thanks for being so patient.
Message: Posted by: TheAmazingSteveo (Dec 4, 2013 11:44PM)
DynaMix ... interesting idea about the Pebble watch. Will think about it and look into it more.
I have the Pebble SDK and a watch available. I have done a little programming with notifications ... the latest
SDK 2.0 does now allow 2-way communication between the watch and the iphone.
Message: Posted by: DynaMix (Dec 5, 2013 01:27AM)
What about the watch only receiving? Let's say you have the row of pics up and they select one. Could text appear on your watch indicating the pic selected?
Message: Posted by: Stephen Young (Dec 5, 2013 01:59AM)
In answer to the question about wifi from DynaMix.

If there was no wifi then I wouldn't do this effect. I've plenty of others I can use.

I wasn't aware of these mini wifi servers. I'll look into that.
maybe it could just sit in the bottom of a case, shoulder-bag, coat pocket whatever, depending on range.
probably not necessary to carry it on your person.

I've also ordered a Pebble.
I know there is an app that will allow the Pebble to see whatever the iPhone camera is seeing.
If there was an app that let the pebble see whatever the iPhone screen was showing that would be really nice.

I have a Pebble. I also have the app that Steve refers too...... Yes you can see what the iPhone camera is seeing, and also use the watch to trigger the camera, however the resolution on the watch screen is not high enough and the frame rate is too slow to make things out clearly. I doubt very much it would be any good to show what is on the iPhone screen.

If anyone is using this app, please PM me. Would love to talk routines and ideas, so far the limitations of this app make performing with it live rather difficult. I'm sure most agree that you want the spectator to have no idea there is a second device in play, and none of the instructions or videos give any idea of how that's possible.
Message: Posted by: DynaMix (Aug 13, 2014 04:02AM)
Anybody ever make use of this in any real world setting?

Steve - any possibility we could even just output the titles of selected photos to a pebble?
Message: Posted by: Sean Giles (Aug 22, 2014 06:09AM)
I would never buy an app that this guy puts out. At least not after the book test app fiasco.
Message: Posted by: DynaMix (Aug 22, 2014 06:57PM)
Yeah it was a major major mistake. No support and a complete lack of care to answer basic questions or think through any practical applications of his own app.

Just terrible.

Interesting Sean .. I don't know of any fiasco with UBT. I guess you are just angry because you didn't get in on the sale price of the app.
Did you know that I sold 11 of the UBT's at $1100.00 US previously ... so the amount YOU paid was a real deal that you got.

UBT was such a success that a major company purchased ALL the rights to UBT.

One of the people that purchased the $1100.00 version was an expert of book tests and had over 1000 different book tests. He told me on the phone about a year
before he died that UBT was the only book test that met 4/5 criteria for a perfect book test -- 5/5 would mean that you are a true psychic. He used UBT at a
lecture he would teach agents in Washington the art of deception.

Here is the UBT tread in case anybody is interested:

Did you ever finish the instruction vids Steve?

Have you come up with a way for both apps to run in the background without quitting. For the 2 toolboxes to stay connected, as I PMed earlier about?

Do you actually use this on anyone?

Sorry, I don't plan on doing any more videos or anymore updates with this app .. I think what is up there on the site gives the basic idea of how to use the app.
This is a utility program/toolbox.

I use my online version now for drawing duplications using the spectator's own screen (I do not sell this -- but have given access to a few friends that use it all the time).

Background processing of the Mentalist Toolbox is not possible based on the way the iphone/ipod/ipad system works with wifi and bluetooth.

I use the Mentalist Toolbox with the keyfob mainly .. as a sophisticated thumper.

I will not put any processing for any of the watches in the app .. screen is too small. I might do this when the Apple watch comes out.

I use my youtube prediction program with the spectators screen to force videos on a spectator's screen ... again, using the red remote to punch in the video to be forced.

I wasn't disappointed because I didn't get 'in' on the sale price. I'll tell why I was disappointed. Originally you came on the Café and told us about this wonderful app that was going to be sold for $350 but if we supported you by pre-ordering, we would get a huge discount and you would sell it to us for $80. I was one of those you fooled because 3 weeks later it was NEVER sold at $350 but was reduced to $20! Now you can charge what you want for your own product but don't dupe us into thinking we are saving money when it's those that DIDN'T pre-order that saved the money. Bad business practice, however you dress it up.
Then on top of that you sold the app to Theory 11 so no one gets to use it anymore. Only in the magic community can you get away with such bad business practice. If I ran my business that way I wouldn't have any customers left.

have a nice day :)
Message: Posted by: TheAmazingSteveo (Aug 28, 2014 05:26AM)
Hi Sean,

If I put the app up to $350 Apple would have taken the app down. Based on my experience everything over $99 sets a red flag for them.

Apple called me DIRECTLY on the phone regarding one of my apps submitted and recommended that in order to get the app on the store I had to reduce my
price of $1700.00 to under $100.00.

I reduced my software price for the rvPhotoCube from $99 to $0.99 ... however the hardware now costs a lot more.

Today UBT is PRICELESS .. you can't buy it from me. Sorry you feel hurt and fooled .. that wasn't my intent.

Have a great day!

Seriously?? No more update? I have bought the app recently, no problem with the function but it doesn't fill the full screen on my iPad ?! Basically an iPhone app on iPad. And using pebble as the receiver would be good.

So was you lying when you said the app would be $350? because that's what you said when you wanted to generate some pre-sale funds at $80 a pop.

How about you support those who supported you and pre-ordered. Give us back the $60 extra that you charged us.
