Topic: Looking for the name and source or this prop
Message: Posted by: John Long (Jan 24, 2014 09:23PM)
I saw a lecture by Dave Risley that he entitled Clorisa the Catepillar.
I used a small prop that looks and functions much like a Trouble Wit, but this prop had sticks/handles on each end.

I think he called it something like blooming blossom, magic flower, or ..
Yet when I do a internet search for this, I get a prop that is just an appearing flower.

Sounds interesting. I wish I knew what it was called.

I own two or three of these, plus a VHS instructional video. Wonderful prop and routine.

Maybe one day I'll get to use it!

I've seen them at upscale toy stores but it was many years ago.

Unfortunately the plastic sticks were substandard and broke well before the paper showed any sign of wear.

Here is a link. I'm not sure this is the same one but it is very similar.

That is a neat company.

I noticed that this company is also selling those WIPER GLASSES that everyone seems to be looking for in recent years.

Thanks Mary, but I'm not sure that is the same, it appears to have 1 stick in the middle. What I'm looking for had a stick at each end, so you could pull it apart like an accordion.

The one I had also had two legs and looked the same when it was closed.
I can't tell if it is one stick or two being help together.

Ok, thanks Mary.

I sent Risley an email, but haven't heard back yet.

Great information Mary.
I certainly can use some of those toys to entertain children, especially the younger kids.
Watched your performance on video. One word (excellent) You're quite a fabulous children's performer.
Keep up the good work.

Hi John

I would contact Tim Sonefelt - his great company Wonder Imagery has a routine called "Metamorphosis" http://www.timsonefelt.com/store_products/index.php?app=ecom&ns=prodshow&ref=metamorphosis that uses the prop you are looking for..

Those wiper glasses are also sold at "The Container Store". The manager told me they were a seasonal item, but if you ask for them, they have them in the stock room. They were also 50% off about 2 weeks ago.
