It is legitimate to suggest a model of scroll saw on this site? I had one once and I never could master it. I could never get the blade to tension properly.

Are you asking about electric or non-electric hand tools? If so, did you use the correct blade for the project, and don't push the saw, let the blade do the work. As the blade heats up, any pressure will cause the blade to break.

If you are speaking about a non electric scroll saws, the tension is correct, when you flick the finger across the back of blade and it sings with a high tone. To set the tension, place end down on a table, insert the blade in one end and tighten, noting have extra room at the other end. Now push down on the handle, and place the end into the clamp, while holding tension, tighten the screw. Again flick the blade to listen for the high pitched should.

If using a bench saw, read the manual, and again flick the blade for your high pitched sound.
