Topic: Can't Make It To MindVention?
Message: Posted by: David Thiel (Oct 7, 2014 10:02PM)
Sheree and I are leaving for Vegas tomorrow. Yup...we tack on several days before the convention because this is the last break we're going to get until December.

Sheree is lecturing on pendulums -- and she's completely prepared -- PowerPoint...notes...packages. (Of course she is.)

I, on the other hand, decided to turf the lecture I've been working on for the past month and go with a new idea. Ah well. :) I'm going to be lecturing on "The Marketing Minded Mentalist." I'm launching a new eBook by that name at MV. It's about rising to the challenges of selling mentalism, sales ABC's for the mentalist, the anatomy of a sales call...databases...websites...sales packages...staying motivated...and handling that tough transition between having sold yourself as a magician -- and then moving to mentalism.

Over the past three MV's I've posted daily updates at our Magic Pendulums site -- the link is in my signature. If you're interested in MV, but couldn't make it this year, please feel free to pop by from Saturday on. These days go VERY late and start VERY early -- but I've always managed to do one or two updates a day...so come on over.

I'm REALLY looking forward to meeting many of you there. And it's okay if you couldn't make it this year. How about if I go there for both of us?

David

Nice - look forward to seeing you abd hearing your lecture.

Marketing truly is #1 if you want to make a living at this - if no one knows who you are oe how to find you, it doesn't matter how talented you are.

I made the transition like you from Magician to mind reader and frankly now I need to remove the Magic "tab" on my web site as I honestly don't do any magic other than at home and in the kitchen :-)

You and Sheree have a safe journey...

Have a safe trip David. I wish you and Sheree the very best. I would love to attend her lecture and I do look forward to hearing more about your new book.

Not to worry Iain. I plan on having one for every Penny member who is unable to attend.

The services are tentatively planned for next Tuesday evening at the Las Vegas Chapel.

Regarding your premature announcement: "The services are tentatively planned for next Tuesday evening at the Las Vegas Chapel":

Feel free to pencil me in to be the officiating pastor!

David, I'm really looking forward to your marketing lecture and your book.

Perfect timing for me as a rookie mentalist working on "getting my act together" so I can get my first real gig.

I've done some searching online but I could not find any info about the history of "Mindvention."

Who started it? How long has it been going on?

Danny Archer started it and it's been held annually since November, 2004. It was originally held at the no defunct San Remo Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

Max Maven and I were among those who performed in the main show tha first year and also lectured.

Here is the announcement Danny made before the first ever MindVention:

Thanks Bob.

I think they should add an "About" link to the Mindvention.net website to give some history and background.

This is the 10th anniversary, and it's a GREAT line up of presenters.

I'm really glad I decided to go.

Technically this year is the 10th anniversary of the first gathering. This Sunday in Las Vegas, however, will be the first day of the 11th MindVention.

I'm sold David ... I'm ready to hit the paypal button right now!!!!! I guess I'll head over to your site and see how to do that. BTW ... While you guys are whooping it up in the Lounge, I'd be more than happy to do some 'Over the Phone" magic if anyone is interested. :dancing: :bigdance: :bigdance: :band:

Does that mean, Paul, you are not here or there? I am already in Vegas and was waiting for you... you know what, I go now to "my place" and will have a coffee and a cigarette... you know my place :). Jan

I also cannot wait for David's lecture!

In my opinion, that will be the highlight among highlights!

Regards,
Mike
