Very excited about this one! :)
Heya folks - we are really excited about this release. James is a total star (and a lovely bloke to boot). He has appeared on our 'Ultimate Self Working Card Tricks' series, and is well known in the UK for being one of the stars of the Bafta award winning BBC show 'Help, My Supply Teacher Is Magic'. He was also a consultant on the Discovery Channel show 'Breaking Magic', and the BBC3 show 'Killer Magic'!!! AND, he's done a bunch of work on major theatrical events. He really knows his stuff. This is his first DVD release and is stuffed with glorious card work. He teaches ten closeup routines and twelve sleight of hand techniques. There are also incredibly useful interviews. We had a massive blast making it.
If you want to get a taste of what's included you can see a sample trick ('Poker Con') and two of the sleight of hand techniques over 'ere - http://www.bigblindmedia.com/james-went-meditations-2-dvd-set/
It's available to buy as a 2 DVD set or Instant Download at your favourite magic dealer! :)
Really looking forward to this arriving. James is one of the most sought after minds in magic for a reason! so I can't wait to get these DVDs in the machine and enjoy every second :P I'll post again when I've had a watch :)
Just watched these and they are full of really interesting technical card magic. Plus at least five of the moves are immediately going into my arsenal. Cracking debut.
James has mad chops. Looking forward to watching this myself!
Meditatations is just great!
One of the things I love about James (and there are many things I love about James) is that the breadth of his knowledge allows him to combine classic and contemporary card magic into a style very recognisably his own, which is characterised by a very open and fair yet clean and casual manner of handling, combined with direct methods to achieve effects. This really comes through on Meditations.
The other thing that comes through is the passion through which James approaches card magic, looking at plots from multiple angles and examining every possible solution. Running through all of these approaches is an awareness that the most direct route is usually the best, be that a practically self-working or very simple method (Poker Con - probs my favourite trick on the set) or one involving several moves which take years to really master (Roy's Sandwich/Searchers).
Meditations therefore becomes a real card-mans project, full of exciting moves and approaches.
Mentioning moves, its worth saying that Wenty's passes and half passes are amongst the best I've ever seen. Learning his subtleties on these moves is sufficient reason to get involved and purchase Meditations.
I feel like that was a really clunky and unhelpful passage, because all of my linguistic eloquence has abandoned me this morning, so if anyone has any specific questions I'd be happy to answer. The thrust of what I was trying to say is that James is as talented as he is pretty and you should purchase Meditations.
How Original are the tricks on here like the triumph effects
looks amazing though
This is at the very top of my Christmas list! James is at the very top of his game and I cant wait to see what this project uncovers! I have no doubt that the effects and knowledge in this project will stay with me for a lifetime!

How are the production values: BBM always makes great videos that are beautifully shot and contain very attractive spectators. This DVD uses the same sets we’ve seen in earlier Liam Montier releases.
Is it well taught: James is teaching the experienced card handler. He is not very patient if you’re new to the art. Plus with some of the more experienced sleights needed, I’d say this is for people who at an intermediate level.
Overall score: let's toss out the traditional score of 1-10 and make this something that we all can appreciate and understand.
__X _ Somewhat Satisfied
_____ Neither Satisfied or Dissatisfied
_____ Somewhat Dissatisfied
_____ Very Dissatisfied
_____ No Opinion
Most of the effects were variations on a theme – I think it’s nice to have 1 sandwich routine or 1 triumph routine in your arsenal, but I don’t need 4 or 5.
