MAGICIANS & MENTALISTS: Please take a minute to read the following: One of the best magic shops on the planet is facing an immediate emergency...and you can help. Denny Haney, of Denny & Lee’s, has spent the past few months reorganizing and downsizing (including shutting down his Las Vegas location). He has been able to basically get even with his creditors. But, in the process of clearing up just about all of his bills, he has gotten behind on his rent. In short, he has handled more than 50% of the rent situation, but he just got word this morning that he has to come up with $10,000 in three days, otherwise he will be evicted. Please understand, Denny has made great strides in streamlining the business. With almost no remaining bills, and all of his stock paid for, EVERY sale is 100% profit. That said, I am asking every magician and mentalist I know to buy something from Denny TODAY (or tomorrow) in order to give him a real chance at making his recent restructuring efforts pay off. In short, through the years, Denny has helped too many magicians and mentalists to count. If he was forced to close, it would not only be a tragedy for him, it would also be a tragedy for our art form. So, please, buy something from www.dennymagic.com today. Finally, PLEASE share this post with all of your friends in magic.. Thanks so very much. |

Done! |

Ooh. I had meant to stop buying stuff, but it's Denny. Shh, don't tell my wife. |

Has anybody heard how this turned out? I saw that their "GoFundMe" site had exceeded its goal. I'm guessing they were flooded with orders, since I haven't heard anything back on an order I placed earlier in the week. Here's hoping they're still in business! |

Also curious how it turned out. And hoping my order is processed soon. :) |

Thanks to the generosity of many wonderful folks, Denny has been swamped with orders over the past few days. He is thrilled...and he is also beyond grateful. However, please understand, Denny is single-handedly processing, packing, and shipping all of the orders (and there are hundreds). That said, PLEASE BE PATIENT. It is going to take quite some time for him to get everything out the door. Thank you to everyone who responded to my initial plea. (And a very special "Thank You" to the folks who set up the GoFundMe page.) At this point, the wolf is no longer at the door. But that doesn't mean everything is great. There is still a lot of reorganizing and downsizing to do...and it is also very important for all of us to continue to support Denny, as well as all other brick and mortar shops. With all of that said, I have one final person to thank: Thank you, Denny, for being there for so many of us through the decades. I'm so glad we could all be there for you this time. Keep the change, Rick |

Great update, thank Rick. I did my part and hope others still continue to do so as well as help is surely still needed and appreciated. |

I went to his shop today for the first time ever. What a great treasure. He was great to chat with, had everything I was looking for and more. He has an amazing selection of books. Over my 45 years in magic I have been to shops in Harrisburg, Cleveland, New York City, Colon, Michigan, D.C., Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Florida and this was the best one by far. If you are anywhere remotely within driving distance, you must stop by this shop, it is a gold mine. I think my purchases today helped with the rent, but don't tell my wife. |

I got the notice my order is shipping and Denny sent along a nice message, too. I'm happy that I can still have a chance to make it in person now. |

Does everything still smell like tobacco smoke? I had to stop buying from him due to that. (Well, due to the smoke, and also due to the special astrology booklet that was supposed to accompany Phil Goldstein's Thabbatical which he claimed had fallen behind a cabinet in the basement and he'd send it to me when he cleaned down there...) |

Fortunately, the magic community came together and organized a successful fundraiser that will allows Denny to keep going for now…As stated on the fundraising page, Denny & Lee Magic Studio is a very special place, no other place like it in the world. It would be a tremendous and devastating loss if the doors closed, to magicians, hobbyists and the arts community all over the world. Denny has helped, influenced and taught so many. Denny Haney is the type of guy they don't make anymore. A straight shooter. Funny. Smart and so much more. He's helped so many through the years, asked for nothing in return but for you to enjoy magic and yourself. Everyone is always welcome in the shop, sit around, talk magic, politics or whatever you would like. Now that The Denny & Lee Magic Studio is somewhat back on track, Denny and I am sure “other” bricks and mortar magic shop could still use some help. All it takes is a little effort from everyone here. Next time your order something, why not trying to support some of these folks that are striving to keep real magic alive and to transfer their true wisdom to the younger generations. Let’s not wait at the last minute and organize another fund raiser to keep some of the legacy of magic alive. |

Thanks for the update, I am hoping to hear about my order soon. |

I'm planning on driving out to Vegas in the next couple of weeks. Is the shop still in that little industrial/business area surrounded by auto repair shops and what not? |
|

In the original post it says that he had to shut down the Las Vegas location. When I was in Vegas on business I would try and stop by. Unfortunately, I've never had a chance to visit the Baltimore store. -Brian |

Ahh, bummer…Thanks for the heads up Brian. Is there any decent place in Vegas to browse/buy magic besides the strip shops. |

Oh yeah, forgot to mention my order arrived perfectly. I did not notice a smoke smell, Tim Cavendish. Another 4 books to put on the "To Read" pile. |

Is anyone else awaiting delivery of an order? I placed an order on Jan. 31st. Can't remember the title but it was for a book on street pitching. I only ordered it to be supportive. I accepted that it might take some time since Denny was on his own, but thought I might have heard something by now? |
