Topic: Table Help Needed... |
|
||
I hope someone here can help me with this... I am looking for a table like Bill Abbott's Pack Smart Table. I do not do the cups and the table needs to be very small and can fit in my carry on luggage. A typical Tri-pod stand will not work because it takes up too big of a footprint with triangle legs. A tray-jack obviously won't fit in carry on plus it would be overkill for my purposes. A spring loaded harbin style table is too flimsy and gets blown over by the slightest amount of wind. A percussion Trap table stand only folds down to 28 inches which is about 8 inches too long for my carry on. All of the portable laptop tables have a weird way of attaching to the stand, making them un-usable. Ideally, if anyone knows where I can find the bottom half (table base) similar to that of the Pack Smart Table, I'd be able to make a top with no problem. Hope you can toss some ideas my way. Thanks! |

That is fantastic! Any ideas on where to purchase it? |

Table base alone: https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7220/14014196103_69b571af19_b.jpg which comes apart to 2 halves at only 20" https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7061/13971094406_354d4911f9_b.jpg |

(music stand) But methinks you may find this a bit bulky & heavy and kinda flimsy. I dunno. There's another design that I think you may have overlooked. I'm on the fly at the moment but I'll try & post a pic. |

I have an InStand. http://www.instand.com/CR3/cr3.shtml It's so light and surprisingly strong. The top is just a flat tray with a non-slip surface on it. As long as you're not putting a lot of weight on it or doing something that's going to mash down on the table, I think it would work great. You can also get a close up mat cut to fit it. http://www.pattricksmagic.com/pattrick-s-magical-mats/OrderMatsHere/#!/InsTand-Mat-Small/p/50415456/category=13377124 |

Thanks for all the help, but none of these options actually fit the criteria. I do believe I found something that packs less than 16 inches and holds at least 10 pounds, which is way more than I'd ever need. An a table top of my choice. I had to put together several different unrelated items to make it work. I will test drive it in the next couple weeks and let you know how it works out. Thanks again for all of the suggestions. |

Can you post a pic or link us for reference? |

Hi Chris, I will post a pic soon. I want to give it a test drive for a little bit and make sure it holds up well and nothing goes wrong. Thanks |

Chris, Here are some specs. on the table I made and have been using for the last week now. I'll put some photos up as well. I had to hunt down the different pieces to make this work. It's kind-of a Frankenstien table made from pieces I had to order from several different places. I made this table that packs small enough to keep in my carry on luggage and is strong enough to take a beating. My inspiration was the Pack Smart Table, which is no longer available. What I've made is something I call "The Workers Table" It breaks down to 18" long and packs flat. Below are the specs between the Pack Smart & my Workers Table Pack Smart Table Table Top 14” x 9.75 Workers Table Top 14” x 9.75 12” x 9.75” Pack Smart Tripod 15.5” Workers Tripod 18” Pack Smart Lowest height 16.5” Workers Table Lowest height 8” Pack Smart Highest Height 40” Workers Table Highest Height 48” |

...And here is a photo of ti broken down. It literally fits inside my laptop bag with my computer. |

How much does it weigh? |

Hi Dick the entire package, including the table top is less than 5 lbs. |

That looks good. I guess you managed for find the pack smart table? I would love to find just the tripod. Seemingly fits inside of a carry on bag! |

Hey guys, Thanks for your interest, but I'm not sure if or when I'd be making anymore of these. I have all the parts, the problem is time. I'm on tour until November. Around September, I will be doing a 2 month festival in my home area and that would be the soonest I'd be able to knock out a few more. BUT, don't get your hopes up. Thanks again, Mike www.VillageIdiotMagic.com |
