Topic: Visual gags in wallet or pocket
Message: Posted by: Terrible Wizard (Jun 3, 2017 12:42PM)
Hi folks,

I hardly ever post down here, but I was wondering if anyone can help me :)

I'm looking for visual comedy props/ideas/gags and jokes that can be carried in a wallet or pocket, suitable for casual/social moments.

Any ideas?

How about the little hand? Available from Michael Ammar. David Letterman called it maybe the stupidest thing he'd ever seen. Always gets a chuckle.

I've used the Pride & Joy cards.

Years back Bob Little used to sell a color picture of a baby goat. The gag was you asked someone if they wanted to see a picture of your kids.

He also used to sell these very tiny dollar bills. I would go up to someone, hand them one of these, and ask if they had change for a small bill.

There, that should get your started.

Gerry

My Dad, who wasn't a magician, was given a card by a colleague. On one side it had the numbers, "1 2 3 4" printed.... and under them were the words, "Pick a number..."

He'd show the card and wait for the instructions to be followed through.... and then turn the card around.

On the reverse side it said; Sex maniacs always chose number 3.

It was a simply psychological 'force' that, (according to my Dad) worked over 90% of the time.

For hecklers, we use a card-to-wallet with a gaff she made. Reveal the red bicycle back and slowly turn over a very artistic bird-finger: 'that's your card!'

My local shop that closed recently carried the "Pride and Joy" (my all time favorite) Two Goats (My Kids, "they look like their mom") I carried both of these for years and always got great reactions.

They had another which was a picture of a dead ant. You could offer to show a picture of your "dead Aunt" or you could show it and hum/sing "dead-ant, dead-ant, dead-ant dead-ant dead-ant" slowly ala Pink Panther theme or fast ala Lone Ranger theme. I never cared for that one though.

I made a card out of a blank face card that says the typical "your card" and I added a basic smiley face and a bunch of dots "I knew it would be a "face card" or a "spot card" - as tired as the lines are to us, I usually get at least a chuckle.

How about a sandwich watch
Or "do you like card tricks" and pull a piece of rope from the card box.

So many. Try asking the clowns around here.

Tom Mullica had a tiny sponge nose stuck to his drivers license picture, he would hand the license out and while people were looking at it he would sneak a full size sponge nose onto his face.

My good friend Tom, could "get me", every time we met. I think he broke in his Tom Foolery show, when he would bar tend at the "after Get Together Party" at Jerry Conklin's house every summer. I really miss Tom.

Terrible
Get a book on "bet you cant's" bar bets. There's plenty of flat items or no prop bets you can do.

I used to carry around the miniature wallet. I had scanned and printed my license, credit cards, library card, etc to a size that would fit and had them laminated. I added tiny dollar bills and even a mini- receipt. For a time I had mini business cards that were similar to my regular sized ones, but the contact info was large enough to read.

That used to get lot's of conversations started :)

I had these SMALL CHECKS that came in a pad.

The actually look like little checks.

I would take them into my bank and ask if the could cash a small check.

The Bank teller was always serious and said they would have to check with their boss.

But I've gotten laughs with it under other circumstances.

But I ran out of them after giving them away to friends.

Don't know of the source any more.

Also scan a picture of your licence and draw a black mustache on it and when you
show it to someone put a black mustache on while they are checking out your licence picture.
And when they look up there you are with a black mustache.

I have a mustache that clip onto your nose between you nostrils.

Pretty Funny. Me thinks.

I always have the "pride and joy" and "major credit card" in there but my favorite to use is a 2"x 3" piece of clear plastic with tape "frame" around the edges...when somebody wants to see mu ID or whatever, I show 'em that and say "...this is a picture of me back when I was nothing.."

I use this one in every show...learned it from Michael Finney.

Robert Baxt takes out a bill out of his wallet, gives it to a child who is helping him in the show and when the child grabs the bill the bill flies back into his wallet.

Looks very funny. The gag is not available from dealers as far as I know.

A friend used to do balloon animals. He would carry a couple of balloons in his wallet. Nothing was ever said as he took one out, yet the chuckles and laughs happened.

Saw another magacian with one of these and it cracked us up, so got one myself and have gotten great reactions, along with shrunk license, card, even money (I only carry small bills).

One caveat, I was MCing and open mic and brought it for a bit between acts, and it bombed. In stage or parlor setting you lose sense of proportion, they canít really tell itís a mini wallet.
