Topic: Best flash gun

Hi folks. Looking for a good flash gun to use on stage. There seems to be a few on the market that vary in price (La Maitre/Propdog etc), but I don't know whether you've found there is any difference in quality and performance. As it will be used on stage, obviously the bigger the flash and flame the better!

Spoken like someone that does not know anything about flash paper and cotton. No, you are wrong, the bigger flash and flame the better. If you are looking to kill yourself or get taken to jail, you are correct. I would suggest you give up the idea altogether, you do not have any common sense. By the way, it is not called a gun.

Here is what happens when there are people thinking like you. I was hired to do a fashion show, the fashion director wanted a a big puff of smoke. He filled the device with flash paper and the whole bottle of gun powder to create the smoke. When it began, he set the smoke pot several feet in front of a huge store display window. When the show started, he pushed the button to set it off. The whole huge line of glass windows blew out into the street, with a hug boom.

Yes there is other sources, but because of your post, I think it unwise to tell you.

Safety first!

Hi Bill. Thanks for your comment and concern. I've been working in theatre for over a decade now and have a team I work with (some of whom are specialists in this field). I was initially throwing out some feelers in February. Some months have passed since then. There are in fact devices called flash 'guns'. I feel you've drawn some sweeping generalisations and conclusions from my initial post, but thanks non-the-less...
