I have the Axtell Big Baby, but just saw this at SEO MAGIC.

I thought it was dumb until I saw the demo video! OMG, it is so adorable and made me laugh out loud. I'm thinking of using this in lieu of Chico Minreading Chimp.

Many years ago a similar (original?) item was available on the toy market. We had so much fun just carrying "our baby" through a restaurant or other social gathering and having the little bundle of joy peek out of the blanket and wave at unsuspecting guests. Even upon a second look many were not sure if "it" was real or not...

Sounds very similar to this magic release. The whole idea of baby peeking out of the blanket sounds fun.

In 2009, I started making my own baby doll hand puppets. They are very easy to make since most of the work is done by the doll manufacturer. Instead of the usual half body hand puppet, mine are full bodies, both hands and feet, easily operated. Instead of being sewn inside a baby blanket "sack", mine are separate from the blanket, and can be used with or without it. Because I buy an inexpensive (usually $10 or under) dolls ready made, I can pick ethnicity, sex, facial expressions, etc. Then it gets converted into a puppet. In The Wizards' Journal #36, I will be showing how they are rigged and used, in the e-Book entitled "Itty-Bitty Babies." I will also show how they can perform magic tricks - alone or with you participating, or with a spectator. They aren't vent dolls - they are babies and can only make baby noises, which is easily done even by a ventriloquist klutz like me. The e-Book will be available in a few days.
