Topic: Silks that seem to blossom? |
|
||
I acquired a set of silks that are all connected but not from the corners. One side of the bundle is white and has a strap. Flip it over and you have a black silk that has an X cut so you get four triangular flaps. I think you are suppose to fold all of the silks into the center and then on stage it looks like you have one sild but as you jiggle your hand the various colored silks seem to blossom from the center. Does that ring a bell with any one? I have no idea of the proper fold to make it work. Help appreciated/ |

That is usually called a "Fountain of Silks", and Marconick's version is described in the Rice Encyclopedia of Silk Magic Volume 3 page 1490. It is also described in The Magic Nook's Dollar Store Magic Book 2- under Appearing silks where along with Marconick's version, there are two other variations also included. https://www.magicnook.com/dollarstoreMagic/DollarTOC02.htm |

Sounds like you have a James Rainho Fountain of Silks, the cut flaps was so you could produce a burning jumbo candle setting in the middle of the silks, for the finale. |

[/quote] I have been reading Bill's posts for some time and am just blown away at your ability to recall so much magic history. Wished I had 50% of your memory. I find stuff in my magic room and wonder what does this belong to. Kudos to you. We appreciate your contributions here. |

Thanks Steve for your kind words, but I didn't know I knew so much until someone ask a question. Then the brain fires up. I have 16 foot lockers full of magic and 6 cases full of acts I have put together with certain props. But I can't remember where a prop is without going through all 22 storage cases. Not a fun task, because once I remove it, I then forget where I put it. Then the hunt is on again. :rotf: |
