|Topic: 494: Danny Orleans - the Omni-Magician|
Lots of magician have business cards that claim they can do it all (kid's birthday parties, trade shows, mentalism, etc.) and in my opinion, it confuses the potential client. Also, if you are truly sick, wouldn't you want to visit a specialist medical professional rather than a general practitioner? Well, many try to be a "Jack of all trades" but few succeed. Danny Orleans is the exception to that rule.
Danny has been a successful children's show entertainer and used his skills and knowledge of the youth psychology to launch his early career in magic into school shows for children and teenagers...two diverse groups that require different attention. During those years, he also tried to perform at industry conferences (trade shows) and really enjoyed it. So much so that he eased into that new line of work. During those early years on the trade show floor, he and his wife, Jan Rose, worked with Eddie Fields on a two-person mind-reading act which they present at trade shows and corporate events.
Danny has an excellent lecture about working with children and teens and has two 3-DVD sets of videos teaching the same. He now is host of a new Facebook page for those who are new to trade shows and who have questions about gaining entry into this lucrative field. He also has a free eBook and plans to teach a course on working trade shows.
This week on The Magic Word Podcast, we talk about the David Copperfield museum (which we both just visited together) then we get into the nuts and bolts of kid shows and trade shows.
