Topic: Why? |

Why? The question to everything. |
Oh no... |
What? |
You'll see. |

Miles Davis put it söö well(!). "If you have to ask, you'll never know." ....picked up his trumpet and walked away. |
"Why not" - the answer to everything |
...and it begins |
"Because I say so!" The PARENTS answer to everything. |
Because Why is the starting point, if you don’t know the ‘why’ then the answer will be useless. Tom |

I enjoy that people think this is new or clever. |
Because. |

A friend used to insist that "Why?" was usually a cover for "How?" |

If you don’t need them you probably would not even look. What difference if they’re on the kitchen table, under the bed or lost forever. Why do you need it? Surely you’re looking for a reason, even if that reason is just to know, that reason is the why. Tom |

Nope. |
I get what you're saying. But it's irrelevant to the question posed. Suppose instead that your wife asks you where her keys are and you let her know that they are on the kitchen table. Is your answer "useless" to her? Do you need to know why she is asking in order to give a useful answer? Anyway, it's obvious one could tack on a "why" to anything and everything. Just my one and a half cents. Ron |

Ron, Why may not mean much to those giving the answer but it is everything to those asking. The wife wants to know where the keys are and if you ask her ‘why’ I bet she will tell you. :) But you’re right it can be tacked on to just about anything. Tom |

This is so funny. Who* knew it would get this wild in here. Why are we debating about the use of "why"? Is it because of free will, or are we secretly being controlled? Your alien friend from Mars, Josh |

5 why's are the heart of the art of scientific management. |

It's always because. Just because. Why is not "how would" or "what does" or "what would you"... but it works well enough for starters. Takes some folks a little while to parse the just, be, and cause but till then... have a cookie. :) |

M.C.A. ,...sorry. i'm a bit drunk, ..but laughed hard enough,.. to share it... ☺️ g. |

A college philosophy professor of mine back in 1963 put that question on the final exam. The only acceptable answers were: "because," "why not" and "is" certainly not new, but might be refreshing for some today. |
Why what? |
Because Who's on first. :) |
It’s not about who, what, when or where. It’s about why. And it looks like nobody knows why.:) Tom |

Still playing left field. :) |

Of our political revolution of '76, we all are justly proud. It has given us a degree of political freedom, far exceeding that of any other nation of the earth. In it the world has found a solution of the long mooted problem, as to the capability of man to govern himself. In it was the germ which has vegetated, and still is to grow and expand into the universal liberty of mankind. But with all these glorious results, past, present, and to come, it had its evils too. It breathed forth famine, swam in blood and rode in fire; and long, long after, the orphan's cry, and the widow's wail, continued to break the sad silence that ensued. These were the price, the inevitable price, paid for the blessings it bought. Ahhh.... old times! |

Thank you stone for explaining the Why, that was the answer I was waiting on. Tom |
