Topic: Where are the performers?

Hello all,

I usually have zero luck finding stage hypnosis shows anywhere near me. I am assuming most performers perhaps do corporate gigs and other private events most often. Do many performers have public shows? The reason I ask is I have fond memories of going to see a campus circuit stage hypnosis show when it came to my home town. I was just in high school at the time but my family got tickets for two shows two different years as we had some connections at the college. We laughed so hard both those nights and fully enjoyed the shows. Fast forward to the present twenty some odd years later and I would love to experience a wonderful performance again with my own family. I never seem to find any shows though. Are they out there?

Also, I should probably introduce myself in some form as I have not posted in this specific forum at the Café. I am a hobbyist magician and perform for my family and students. I love the joy I give or get when performing or watching someone else perform magic. I am not very knowledgeable about hypnosis other than that I thoroughly enjoyed the few shows I saw years ago. Entertainment that was well worth the money. Those left me with a fascination with your art that perhaps has been a bit dormant until now.

Thanks in advance for your insights.

Jon

I have no idea where you are located so I can't give specific suggestions.

Look for colleges, theaters, and places like the American Legion.

I’m in VA. Could get to DC or Richmond easily. I saw no shows listed but a performer listed at a comedy club but it seemed to be more adult humor. Looking for something more family friendly.

I tour each sping with my family-friendly hypnosis show but haven't been to DC or Richmond in a couple of years. Mostly the midwest and south, and again, many of the shows are private only a handful of public shows.

What you are describing isn't really a market, hence your difficulty in trying to find them. Perhaps a summer festival would be your best bet.

Yeah, I figured that must be the case about where the demand is for hypnosis shows. Makes sense although sad there isn't a small market for public shows because hypnosis can make for great entertainment. I will have to keep my eyes open at some of the colleges close by, but I don't know if they would sell tickets to the general public.

How about popular travel destinations? Does Vegas, NYC, etc... have options?

No one (venues) really wants to pay the price for a decent hypnosis show. Comedy clubs are an option but as you said they aren't usually family shows. Same for the shows here in Las Vegas, which also tend to be adult (R-X rated) shows. There are shows are around if you know where to look, but as you said they're not very commonplace.

This is why many have to self-produce their own shows.

There's a guy that does the PA/MD Ren Faires. It's family friendly.

I don't think it's unusual for a college show to be accessible to the public. At least, in my experience, they want to be able to get as much money as possible.

I haven't been in Vegas for a few years now but I do recall seeing several billboards for hypnosis shows then. They all seemed to be your standard "Comedy Hypnosis" show.

Vegas has 3 ongoing Hypnosis Shows. Many comedy clubs in every market use a hypnotist, get on their emails.
