I'm not sure if this is the place to post this or not, but, if anybody has a Vito Lupo Smoke Glass they would like to sell I am very much interested in it. I use one in my act and recently when I was flying home from a gig the airport security took it out of my case and destroyed it. I didn't realize this until a few days later when I went to get some things out of the case, I guess they thought I was going to set the plane on fire with it. I've looked and called everywhere and nobody has one laying around. I don't think he makes it any longer b/c he was trying to update the gimmick. I appreciate all the help!

I would check with the aiport and see if they can't give you some money or reimbursement for the damaged good. Certainly you should be compensated in some degree.

Tesmar Zauberartikel from Germany had this item in their catalog. They closed the shop but you might try to get in touch with them.

I have heard about your videos. Is there any place I can find the list of effects you cover on the tapes and is thera any magic shop in Europe who sells it ?
Bojan

I found an old Tesmar catalog. This item is called "Rauchpokal elektrish" and its catalog number was 40327. Price was DM 350.

Cool cool, thanks or looking it up. I don't know if that is the same glass that Vito made. I know of other methods with mixing the chemicals and their fumes to get the smoke, the way Viking makes one with the cigarette pack and whatnot, but I really need Vito's glass. I'm not sure of the Euro/US Dollar conversion but if it was DM350 that's expensive, I think Vito used to sell his here for like $150.

This one was made by Vito Lupo. Since Tesmar imported this item from USA it had to be something more expensive than in USA. At the time when catalog was printed the exc. rate was 2.2 ($150 x 2,2= DM 330).

I'm from Germany so I should know .
Let's see .... 350 DM that's aprox. 170 Euro . And 170 Euro are aprox . 204 $ .
I could ask Tesmar for you and give you a good price . For an exchange for one of your Dove DVDs of course ;-) .
PM me for fourther informations .

Cheers

I guess I don't remember the Lupo glass and what made it so different. The smoke in glass is a very old effect that should be able to be done with almost any glass.

I would find a standard glass that looks right and gaff it. Then I would buy 2 dozen of them.

The Vito Lupo Smoke Glass is mechanical/electronic . I purchased mine years ago, and it still works great, but haven't seen it for sale lately .

Viking Magic makes a similar unit called Crystal Fantasy Smoke Glass.

Denny sells it and has a photo on his web site:

Contact Dick Kooornwinder, who made the one for Fred Kaps and see if he will make one for you. I think he is available by going to the http://www.fredkaps.com site and clicking on mail.

Yep, or just email to info@fredkaps.com

Thanks for all the help! I'm still looking, I've called all the major magic dealers including Dennyand Lees and like nobody has one. I like Vito's make of the glass because you only have to cover it with the silk. Viking's interested me, but you have to put the pack ontop. I like how clean Vito's is. But yeah I'm still looking, the fred caps smoking thumb is a crazy gimmick too!

What version did Jonathan David Bass use on WGM?

There was no cover.

Sperris,
Did you ever find Vito's version?

With the new airport "security" you may want to use Fed Ex when traveling with items that you want to keep. If I can't carry it on the plan I ship it ahead.

Dan,
If you can't find one, then, make one. Just search in hobby train shops. You know what I mean. It's not that hard to construct your own as long as your able to find that PVC cocktail glass.

Emaied Dick Koornwinder twice and he will not reply!

Spoke to Vito Lupo 2 years ago at Abbott's Get-Together when he appeared. He discontinued his Smoke in Glass effet. Does not plan on making any more. He told me he has a new model in the works but no plans in the near future of making them for sale.

The gimmick for making smoke in trains might be just the ticket if you could find the proper glass to gaff.

Hey guys,

First post on here, does anyone know where I can purchase a chemical using no pyro's to make smoke in a glass? It has to be something quick as I have to do it inside my drop box

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
