I saw a quick promo clip and it says early 2005. Also it says that the DVD will have Jerry, De'vo, and Daryl. Looks pretty good, but was only effects, no moves yet. Probably too early, but be on the lookout for this one.

Where did you see the demo? Does it have a link? I'm interested in this purchase. :) What do you think does it contain? Is it similar to Capaso Casino's
Back 2 Basics: Flourishing?

No way will it be like b2b.LOL

It's a basic XCM not flourish DVD, so look for SSSs, static displays, fans, cuts, combo, multi media presentations, and other XCM type of material.

XCM only means "advanced flourishes", it's not a new concept !

(and if I'm wrong, I would be happy to know why "fans, cuts & combos" should be considered XCM and not flourishes)

Anyway, I'm sure this DVD is going to rock : can you imagine De'vo, Jerry and Daryl working together ??? :)

XCM is all encompassing. There are "new concepts". Where ever in magic flourishes have you seen a self standing sculpture, or stump manipulation? lol That is the main difference between XCM and flourishes. XCM concentrates on artistic card manipulations, while flourishes are mainly for something on the side like a few fancy cut to go with your magic. XCM stands on it's own where as flourishes normally go with something else.

The DVD will rock! Can't wait for this one.

Excuse-me for a second : what do you call a "magic flourish" ?
Is a fan a magic flourish ?
Is a spring a magic flourish ?

> flourishes are mainly for something on the side
> like a few fancy cut to go with your magic

Is it a definition you just invented ?

Jerry's book is called "encyclopedia of playing card flourishes", I wonder what he would say if you told him that it contains only "fancy cuts" to go with his magic.

No kidding here that may be the best definition that I have ever heard for any of this.

Jerry's case is a different one. The Encyclopedia came out before XCM was ever defined or even considered it's own artform in America, where Jerry lives. Jerry came from the old school of magic and sleight of hand and is why the book had been named with flourishes, the term that magicians gave fancy card handling, however no magician had ever seen the moves that Jerry used before, but still classified them in the catagory of flourishes. The book was written over 7 years ago, and has kept the original title from what I understand.

In Germany and other countries, it has NEVER been called flourishes, in fact in Ulmen, they don't even know what that word is.lol De'vo and Superhandz brought a new train of thought on XCM, defined the artform as a seperate art, and has defined the art of XCM with catagories and new terminology to progress this art forward pass the old train of thought of being a subset of magic which it is not. Using the term flourishes is like saying it's part of magic since it's a magicians term. So when you say flourishes, you are either speaking of card moves with magic, or related to magic since it's a term that only magicians use. Hopefully that helps clear things up.

On a related note, Jerry's DVD project with De'vo and Daryl will not be called flourishes, but XCM, because it is not related to magic at all.

Thank you! I did my research, glad it has helped. For those that want to learn more, De'vo's interview in Genii magazine has helped me immensely understand the differences between the two. Also his posts on Handlordz.

Well, as curious as it may seem, I was very happy to read your reply Jinx.

I first thought you were some kind of "phantomace v.2" (we all know what this means, so I don't need to explain), but I was wrong ;)

Thank you for this clarification :)
