Nah! Enjoy the peace and quiet at home. Just fork over the bucks and get that teleporter installed.

What?!? It's very easy to get from Hicksville, New York to NYC! You can take the Long Island Railroad from Hicksville right into Penn Station.

(Yes, there really is a Hicksville, New York. I grew up in the next town over, Bethpage.)

As Chanor already posted two days ago, not only is Maven giving a performance at Monday Night Magic, he's doing a lecture as well, sponsored by Tannen's.

From his newsletter:

Max Maven will be having a very busy visit to New York City during the first weekend in October.

Saturday, October 2: Max will be a panelist at a conference on "The Ethics of Deception," sponsored by the Center for Inquiry and New School Media Studies Program. The event will take place at New School University's Swayduck Auditorium, 65 Fifth Avenue, starting at 2:00 PM. Admission is free. For more information call The New School at (212) 265-2877, or go to http://www.cfimetrony.org

That evening, Max will do a benefit "in concert" performance, also at Swayduck Auditorum, starting at 7:30 PM. To purchase tickets, call (212) 265-2877, or go to http://www.cfimetrony.org

Sunday, October 3: A lecture for the new Tannen's, including material never before taught on the East Coast, at the 13ths St. Repertory Company theater, 50 West 13th Street (between 5th and 6th Avenues), starting at 1:00 PM. To purchase tickets, call (212) 929-4500 or go to http://www.tannens.com

Monday, October 4: Max will do another show (all different material) as the latter half of Monday Night Magic, the popular long-running weekly series at the Soho Playhouse, 15 Vandam St. The show starts at 8:00 PM, and as the first half will be two wonderful performers, Chris Capehart and Puck, you'll want to get there early. To purchase tickets, call Telecharge.com, (212) 239-6200 or go to http://www.mondaynightmagic.com/tickets

More news coming up, including some exciting plans for the Los Angeles area.

Max's best line at the lecture:

"Mentalism is fast becoming to the 21st century what packet magic was to the 70s and 80s."

Second best line: (as Marc Salem in the audience successfully picked out the predicted envelope out of six possibilities) "[With Maven-cocked eyebrow] I guess he really is as good as they say . . . "
