Today I mailed A-1 Magicalmedia to request the information about the forthcoming book of the ropemagic of Francis Tabary.
This is the answer I got: Actually, the book is in the final stages of publishing as we 'speak'. It has been a long process to get it translated and edited. There will be a limited, signed and boxed Collectors' Edition available. The price is not yet finalized (between $125 - $150) for the Collectors' Edition. It is an excellant version of a classic. Keep an eye out within the next month or so for the first copies to be available. We will have information on our website and in the major magazines. Time to kill my piggybank (again!) |

Sorry, guys, but <rant mode: ON>
When, oh when are the publishers going to get the idea that a magic book needs to be affordable to be commercial (with the given that the material in the book is commercial - or at least interesting)? This whole "fad" of selling magic books at over $100 a pop seems to have started with the Annemann collection and has spiraled out of control ever since. For proof, look at the Al Baker book, which should have been a two volume set and could have sold for more as a set, and less separately, than the frankly monstrous price currently being asked at retail. I'm a working pro. I spend a fair amount of money every year on magic books, videos and the like, but I am really starting to get fed up with publishers who think that everyone has enormous wads of cash to expend on their products - especially when so many of their products have MAYBE one trick or idea in them that will actually function in a real world setting like a trade show, restaurant or banquet event. <Rant mode: OFF> Mu opinion only. Your mileage may vary, obviously. Lee Darrow, C.H.

Hello Darrow,
The high price is for the collector's edition (signed, etc) Fortunately the regular edidion will be cheaper(I guess at about 50 dollars). The French edition cost 84 Euros, which is about 120 dollars (and I am talking about the regular edition). So the American market isn't too bad. Best Wishes , Remco |
