I recently got a Morrissey mini chop cup and the Chop Cup book. I have Martin Lewis's Cheap Cup routine also. In both, you put the ball in the cup then rattle it around to prove it's there before pretenting to take it in your hand. This rattling action seems unnecessary to me. It's like pulling out a gaffed deck and saying, "Here's an ordinary deck of cards." We're trying to hard to show that the cup is normal.
So... does anyone have any pointers to chop cup material that's accessible, not too costly, and doesn't involve rattling the little ball around? Right now my routine mixes a bit of both my sources, but I want to get away from the rattling. As always, thanks in advance for help and suggestions. |

Why do you need to PROVE anything? Just seeing the ball go in the cup is PROOF enough. Especially with the mini. The minis I use allow me to show the ball inside (it's on the side as opposed to in the middle if you know what I am talking about). Roll the ball around inside to see if it leans against a particular wall...

Get the Complete Don Alan Chop Cup routine by Ron Bauer. You can get it from RnT II. http://www.rnt2.com Read what Don actually had to say about rattling the ball around in the cup.
If you don't have the book, you don't have the most important information there is on the Chop Cup. Nobody understood it better than Don.

Just read through the Bauer manuscript. It is one of the best things available on the Chop Cup, and is invaluable both for its routine and the philosophy behind it, as well as for the overall lessons in "thinking like a conjuror." Learning how Don Alan came up with his routine, how he approached it and developed it is a great learning experience. Couldn't recommend it any higher.
