I think it would be a good idea and a popular one, to have a forum that deals with gambling related magic and topics, especially cards.
Card magic is a MASSIVE topic and fitting gambling card topics under the current forum is kind of unconvenient. What do you think? |

It's clear that a few people who post in the card forum have actually used various "methods" to cheat in actual games to gain money, as opposed to entertainment or gambling cheating exposure. If there were to be a gambling forum, do you think it would encourage that type of person to come here, and if it did, would that be a good thing for the Café to be associated with? Personally I don't think it would.

Daryl was concerned about tteaching some methods that could be used in that way.

People will seek out methods to cheat regardless of where the information is if that is their intention. That being said gambling routines are frequently used in magic for entertainment purposes only. Methods for stacking cards are taught in books and I have seen them posted here on the Café. How about 3 card monte routines. Such as color monte. You can make a wager on almost any of the routines we do with cards. A lot of the routines can be turned into gambling wagers.
I really think that this topic should be added to the Café. Just my opinion. edh

Thanks for the support edh.
Like edh said...people can get these secrets or tips anywhere. They are already current on the Café and in the secrets area....why not just make it more segregated..because the topic of CARDs is a very big one which should by divided up. |

This has lain dormant for a bit but I'd like to keep it alive in the hopes of management either pushing it through as a new topic or at least stating their view here in a post.
I was thinking that perhaps the 50 post rule should apply to this should this new topic be added. That way it will no doubt keep out many of the so-called "riff raff." However, I would also like to note that just because someone uses these methods at the gaming table doesn't mean that many of them aren't cordial individuals who would have something to share with us. As a matter of fact, if anything, their experience is better than many as they REALLY know what gets by the observers and what does not. I for one welcome their advice. I’m not here to judge them, I’m not here for ethical arguments either... I’m here to discuss things in our art philosophically as well as seek out knowledge to improve myself within that art. I too am for "Gambling Magic" as it's own topic. So what say ye management… any words to offer on this one? -Matt (TK) |
