Now of course, some of this might fall under common sense. If you got hail coming down the size of golfballs you arent going to be out workin the walk.
However, how is it that you deal with the weather? When the clouds start rolling in on what was a sunny day, do you stay out as long as possible? Or take the road of caution? Or perhaps it is less the weather and more temperature....as we head into fall/winter time and the temp drops into the nippy section, when do you tend to call it off? (and of course any stories are always welcome )

Winter is the best time for street magic. If the conditions look rain-ish, I usually pack up.

I feel like I'm responding to the response, but my inexperience makes me really curious to know why "Winter is the best time"?

If I feel like i can get a crowd (or if I am getting a crowd) I'll put on a show. I went to all the trouble of coming out didn't I? Of course no one gets a crowd on a cold, windy miserable day. If I feel like conditions are going to petentially RUIN my props, I'm gone. I have way too much money invested in my stuff to let it get wrecked. However, many of my tricks are water proof to an extent.

You know, I'll take a little rain over 100 degrees anyday.
Hot is what kills a show for me. People have no attention span, can't react, don't want to stand around too long. I've done shows with a comfortable temp. in a light rain and made great hats. I even find that if people see a group of unbrellas they are VERY curious as to what is going on! It floored me the first time it happened. Hot and sticky is what I hate. Yep...a bit of rain is fine. Mind you, it's never hot and sticky in Scotland.

Dan is right; heat can kill any show.
And a little rain isn't going to make you melt. If you can draw a crowd in the rain, go for it! Of course, as Missing Link says, "it's never hot and sticky in Scotland." (Anything over 70 degrees and people start to pass out on the streets!) |

I find that a really heavy breeze, if you can't find a sheltered spot, cramps my style. But, hey, I love sponge...

I prefer it a little cold so you have an excuse to wear long sleeves!

I like overcast, cool days. But I'm flexible, if I could to draw a crowd, then I'd go for it in spite of weather.
Oh yea. I almost forgot... *Points and laughs at the non-heat-tolerant Scotlanders. Then gets hypothermia from the air-conditioner.*

Pokie said it all!
Let the crowd to tell you when it is time to pack it in, and bolt for high ground. BroDavid
