Jeff McBride has a 3-volume VHS/DVD set out. The Art of Card Manipulation. If you do a search on the Café, you'll find that card manipulation sources have been discussed quite a bit. But I certainly recommend the McBride.

Go to your public library and borrow a copy of Pat Page's "Big Book of Magic." It has enough to get you started.
Then, pick up the McBride DVDs. |

The best way I have found how to learn it, is find someone who knows how to do it really well. Ask them if they will teach you. That is how I learnt. I picked it up a lot faster than my friends too. If you cant find someone, I go with everyone else here and get the jeff McBride DVD's. They really are great. Boring, but great.

Jeff's "Manipulation without Tears" is a wonderful dvd for the beginner in manipulation. IF you learn the techniques in this dvd it will help you to build confidence in yourself to master the more advanced ones.
This is where I would start my young master manipulator.....~r2 http://www.mcbridemagic.com |

What is on jeff McBride's dvd Manipulation without Tears? is it card manipulation or his stage act...?
Well I guess what I was asking above is, are the things he teaches in Manipulation without Tears the same effects he teaches in the art of card manipulation dvd's |

ON mANIPulation w/out tears...he teaches.
The McBluff card production with a modular routine..sort of a miser's dream with cards and a hat for a receptacle. It closes the routine with either a card to silk production or a double split jumbo fan finale. The next part of the dvd is a full Miser's Dream which is easy, easy, easy to perform. Coin Manipulation at it's simplest. The Third part of this dvd is a wonderfully simple double ball production which I have never seen ANYWHERE! The balls which can be anything other than balls from a pocket on each side of his jacket.... The fourth part of this dvd is a glimpse into his very stunning visual Full Evening Show... I didn't think much of this work when he first released it back in Las Vegas at the Riviera at SAM..., but I think it is one of the best resources for a beginning manipulator...I stand corrected! I was wrong, wrong, wrong! This gets my highest recommendations! It was nice to see him acting like his oldself instead of following the lead of the L&L gang. He just looked more comfortable at home on this dvd... GEt it if you don't have it! I have one for sale $25.00 and free shipping. |
