I recall from a discussion with an old friend there is an effect Ted Lesley performs where he has a spectator freely select a page from a book (book test). The performer's prediction is sealed in an envelope and when opened reveals the actual complete page from the book. I think this recollection of the effect is somewhat accurate. Just wondering is anyone familiar with his effect? Know where I might find it? Is it in Paramiracles? DVD? Mr. Lesley....if you're in the Café this week....help? Thanks gang!!

It is fully described in Paramiracles ok, - and a little more briefly discussed on the DVD.
I recommend the book before the DVD. This routine is dicussed in detail here, and you will also find heaps of other great effects here. The effect is more to the mental magic side than to mentalism as such, but nevertheless an amazing routine. I have done it on some occations, and if you follow the original-, and not the surrounded situation version, you will find that it kills. (it is by the way the surrounded version that is on the DVD) Sven

It is a very very good way to end a booktest. I love it: an empty, examined envelope is sealed by the spectator. after your booktest routine, you have them open to any page and they find half of the page ripped out (they had been looking at the entire page before hand). in the envelope they have been holding the entire time, they find the page. (they open the envelope)

Despite my warm feelings for Ted Lesley and his creations, I think it's illogical and far too telegraphic of the ending to show an envelope empty, seal it, and then launch into the booktest portion. After all the preceeding, of course the page ends up in the envelope -- why else would have drawn so much attention to it in the beginning?
When I perform it, I work much closer to the original "Pegusus Page" format. It begins just like a standard booktest, only something goes wrong or happens unexpectedly, and the page is discovered to be missing from the book. Only then does the performer call attention to an envelope that has been under the last row of seats (or another distant location) for the entire show. When it is opened, it contains the selected page. Much more powerful and impossible-seeming, in my opinion. Best, Neil

I guess you're right Neil. I performed it like the way you said and I think I'll do that more often. plus I wont have to make up so many teleport envelopes!

Hello All:
It´s nice to see one of my brainchilds discussed here in the "Café". Many people ask me, why I sell the envelopes in sheets instead of have them ready made for use. The answer is simple: Many mentalists or magicians are a little bit lazy and just hate it, to do the necessary preparations to make the "Telesport Envelope" ready for the performance and this is the reason, that tricks with this versatile gimmick are seldom seen in a show.........(!) ;-)) The trick which is discussed in this thread I have put into various spots in my show, but it never worked as I had expected. After a while I performed it as my finale trick and I got a standing ovation for it and I still get it now on many occasions if the audience is right. Until this time, I finished my show with my "Linking Finger-Ring-Routine", which is so strong, that at many occasions the audience simply forgot to applaud. The ring trick, my "Premonition" and my presentation of the CT amongst others were the most talked about tricks in my shows. That the "Pegasus Page-Trick" registers so good with the audience has many reasons and it would take a lot of pages to describe it here. You have to try it out by yourself to be convinced. Sometimes it are this little details which improve a show immensly and make it more professional. Any questions? Feel free to ask ESPecially and Magically TED LESLEY
