Counting the duck and the scorpion, nowadays DC uses only animals and no gorgeous girl assistants in his show.

I think it's a matter of "style". Every magician is different:DC uses only Webster the duck in some tricks(like the duck bucket),but he's a magician doing grand illusions. Grand illusions as the one he performs rarely admits animals. If You think a bit about it,they're many magicians who don't use animals in their show. It's just a choice...
