Are there any mentalist effects on the market that are similar in presentation to Copperfield's Graffiti Wall? Either stage or close-up (preferably close-up).

I love this effect and would love to be able to perform something similar on my own. Smile

Alone, but could possibly get helpers if it'd help complete an effect similar to Graffiti Wall.

Graffiti Wall is a Copperfield routine and he may have some kind performance rights thing.. You know how how is.

The effect is very good but the prop required, ie the Wall is not cheap to put together, one it has to h--- a p----n as well as being able to take a du-------e spray of the animal..

I love the routine also, has some lovely comedic qualities to it.

Also you can never perform what we actually watched in the special since if you was in live audience you would not seen some extra scenes that make the illusion a miracle...

Wesray,

The PRESENTATION of the wall is the main point here. D oyou want to copy Copperfields style or do you mean a similar EFFECT?

If all you require is to predict in advance (say) 3 happenings or pieces of information then there are many methods. All cheaper, easier to put together and transport.

Think about it this way, if Copperfield stood on an empty stage with a note pad and did the same routine would you lust after it so much?

A good performer can hook an audience in with his or her charisma, stage precence and personailty and wont need any large props etc.

With a little thought you can come up with a presentation to surround any method and entertain people.

Metohds should be secondary but also seamless with your presentation.

How about thinking of a great way to present something and work in the method from there?

I remember seeing an effect in a beginners magic book which is basically Copperfields wall for the method, the item used was a chair and some work with an offstage hand.....

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions, guys!

I should've been clearer, I guess. I love the presentation and series of events that unfold in Graffiti Wall, but I don't want to copy it exactly (i.e. no wall or spray paint). Instead, I'd like to find a prediction effect that unfolds in a similar manner. For instance, in three stages (using three different spectators' choices). Or if possible, to put together three seperate prediction effects into one routine. Could be a close-up routine or something for stage. I'm open to any suggestions.

So, anything come to mind? Again, I appreciate the help. Smile

WEsray,

One of the best all round things for close up, stage etc which allows you to present a similar effect, in that case, I would say is Alan Shaxons Confabulation. Come up with an interesting routine with it that touches people and you can dress it up any way you like...

Best,

Bri

Ted Lesley's "Slate Sensational" is a very close match to the Wall and it can be made to appear that the participant does all the writing too, not to mention that they remove the paper covering the board to reveal what was written previously in a different coloured chalk.

For a close-up effect that is similar try Anthony Linden's "Fortune and Fate"

I've been looking around online and cannot locate Fortune and Fate or Slate Sensational. Same goes for Confabulation. Know where I might try finding them?

Check out Arthur Buckley's "Gems of Mental Magic." It basically tips the entire thing and is extremely workable.

A different dressing for the plot. The original of Dream Vision was described in Wilbur Katner's "Destiny and Beyond" booklet which details all sorts of methods and presentations and worth studying by anyone interested in the effect.

That looks great. Quite pricey for my current budget, though. Smile
