1. Where can I get best quality genuine silks (made out of real silk), 18".
2. Where can I find a dye tube that can easily accomodate 18" silks? (Prefer not to use 1/2 silks cut on the diagonal). TIA. |

Hello:
Concerning the dye tube, the Joe Porper dye tube is excellent, and will take an 18 inch silk. You should be able to get this at Hocus-Pocus for about $20.00 or so. There are many places that sell pure silk. Probably the best quality will come from Silk King Studios http://www.silkkingmagic.com or Richard Hughes http://www.hughesmagic.com I have also bought from http://www.dazzlingmagic.com and their silks are superb. http://www.laflinmagic.com has terrific prices on silks, but the silk is thinner - still very nice, but thinner. I hope this helps you. I'm sure others here will give you other sources. Ron |

I would stick with 6 momme as it does wear out as fast a 5 mm. You can make your own dye tube with a piece of pipe or using 35mm film cans.
There are even fleshy colored film cans made.

An 8 momme will take 60% more load space for the same size silk. I don't recommend diagonal cuts either. Diamond cuts are a different story. They hang like square silks with four corners. If your get true 18" diamond cut silks, they will look like 24" square silks and take the space of a 12" square silk. These two links on The Magic Café should really help answer your question. http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......54&6 http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......4&19 #2. There are plenty of sources of dye tubes and you can make your own. For two normal 18” silks to work well, it needs to be about 1.5” in diameter and 2.5” long. The rest of it is personal taste. Rice books would be a big help! Enjoy your silk magic! Bob Magic By Sander |
