I am looking to purchase a set of Mini Cups. I have been over to Bill Palmers site as well as James Riser's. I am looking for a cup that will take a golf ball as a final load snugly. I have been looking at the RNT 2 Foxy 2's and Foxy 1's. I think the Foxy 2's may be a bit large for what I want. Does anyone have the Foxy 1's? Are there any other cups out there that will fit this criteria?

I used to use the little chinese(?) tea cups you could find at restaurants (asking the manager). Aside from being fragile they had a cool look, and did a good job.
Magic is doing improbable things with odd items that, under normal circumstances, would be unnessecary and quite often undesirable.

I have a set of Foxy Ones in aluminum. Beautiful cups, same size as the Black Beauties and White Beauties, they will do what you want. If you are loading a golf ball you may wish to consider the White Beauties. Being made of acetal resin they will not talk as much as a metal cup, they are slightly translucent, so if your ball is not white it may show through the cup under some lighting conditions. If you want a cup that is opaque get the Black Beauties, they are also made of acetal resin and the loads will not show through the cup. I checked http://www.RNT2.com and the Black Beauties are still listed, so there may be some left.

I was thinking of the Black Beauties but I like a heavier cup. I think the Delrin would be too light for my tastes. Does anyone have a pic of the Foxy 1's next to say a Johnson cup? I am trying to get a sense of the size...

Gary Animal's Golf cups are a nice heavy copper set that (as the name suggests) take a golf ball as a final load. There's a picture of them on Bill Palmer's Cups & Balls Museum.
Gary's winding-down his operation in the UK, but may have some sets left. He may not be making any more in the future. His e-mail address & phone number are on his website (www.yellowmelon.co.uk). If you're interested in the Riser minis, now might be a good time to order as Jim is in the process of making a new run. They sell fast and may be unavailable for some time once they're gone. Richard

The Foxy 1's will take a golf ball. They are easy to handle.
You might be able to get a set in brass. The Van Dokkum Mini's also take a golf ball. Andy Greget has them most of the time. If not, you can get them from http://www.cupsandballs.nl Use Fakini balls and they will never talk. The White beauties with a Fakini golf ball is a devastating combination.

I highly recommend the Van Dokkum mini-cups. Like Bill said, they take a golf ball perfectly and their weight allows them to roll over a full revolution. They are practically indestructable. I love working with them and they feel like silk in my hands. So easy to handle and convenient to put inside your pocket. Not perfect for strolling, but it suits me for my restaurant work. You can see me holding one of the cups in a display of a sushi final production load at http://www.scottwells.net/image019.jpg

Thanks for the information Scott. Seeing that picture really helped me gauge the size of the cups. Anyone else have some in-hand pics?

I have the Foxy 1 in brass-beautiful! They handle well, are not too heavy or brass, and take a fakini golf ball perfectly. I do use a larger ball than came with them, but I only have one ball on top of a cup at a time, so no problem. These are lifetime cups.

If you want to see what the cups look like relative to their loads, visit the cups and balls museum.

Have you handled a set of mini cups?
I just received the RNT2 Black Beauty combo cups, and am looking to return them. I was surprised by this, but after working and handling them I found they are too light and small - just did not feel right. They are aluminum. Look nice. Come with nice accessories. Something was just not right for me. It happens. Might want to avoid my path and handle some before you buy. Mark

Huh??? Black Beautys are plastic, not aluminum and aren't offered in a combo set. Are you thinking of the RNT Foxy cups? I think the Foxy Two's come in a combo set. If you don't like their small size, you'll really be disappointed with the Foxy Ones. The Two's are about a quarter inch larger in height and width. The Foxy Ones and Black/White Beautys are all the same size, 2 inches tall. The only aluminum ones are the Foxy Ones and they aren't offered in a combo set.
What exactly do you have anyway?

Black Beauty Combo set from Stevens Magic (Stevens exclusive - maybe that's why you missed it). They are indeed, aluminum (I ought to know, I have them in the next room!) :^)
http://www.stevensmagic.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=5839 Think you may also have confused me with the original poster.

No, no confusion. You posted about aluminum Black Beauty's and to my knowledge, RNT didn't have such a thing. Now I know I was in error. Those guys look great! Too bad they're too light for you. I bought a set of wooden mini cups at WMS last weekend. They're about the size and weight of yours. They're fun to handle, but I know what you mean about the weight. Going from full size Gazzos to these, I almost tossed the poor things across the room!

Shortly after I got my set of Black Beauty combo cups, I used the chopped cup from the set, along with two of the Smiley Face balls for a performance going room to room at Texas Children's Hospital. That cup was just perfect for that situation, but I do prefer the Little Don to it for use as a chop cup.

I am assuming that the Foxy One brass set is heavier than the Foxy One Aluminium set. Am I correct in this assumption...

I posted these weights in a review, but I'll re-post them here.
These are the weights of various mini cups: van Dokkum 2.3 oz. * Foxy 1 aluminum 1.1 oz. * Foxy 1 brass 3.9 oz. * Black Beauty combo 1.8 oz. Foxy 2 Brass 5.7 oz. Mini Paul Fox 2.1 oz Riser Mini 3.2 oz. Gary Animal Golf 3.5 oz. * The ones marked with an asterisk * will take a golf ball. The rest will take a handball or a msdium sized pet toy tennis ball. You may have trouble finding a set of Foxy 2's in brass. They are a tad heavy for walkaround if you are working out of your pockets.

That's exactly what I wanted to here Bill. Thanks so much. Looks like the Foxy 1's in brass will be my choice...

So I ordered my new Foxy 1 cups in brass from RnT2 last night. I have to say, Jacob over there was a class act. He answered my questions and took care of my order for me. Now I have the Foxy's as well as a set of Cellini cups from Zurich on the way. It's going to be a good week when they all arrive.
