I just worked my way through learning Pin Demonium. It seems great. I learned it off the video clip and from michael webber's LifeSavers book. LifeSavers basically has an ending for the effect to leave everything clean. I'm surprised that the book included the setup for the trick.
Does anyone perform this for laymen? What is a reasonable number of people that can see this and from how far away is it practicle? I bought some pretty darn big pins.. 3", i believe. What sort of reactions do you get? Is there more to the effect than what's on the video clip or is that the whole thing... Here's what's on the clip... 1. piff paff poof 2. spectator pulls them apart twice 3. pin falls off 4. pin links 5. pin melts thru and links I'm wondering what to purchase his video hoping there are other great effects that would suit my style, his notes just on this trick to see if there is more than i've gleaned from the clip, etc. Thanks, Frank

Hi frank,I learned this effect from Dan Garretts viedeo conivery, its an excellent video a lot of kool stuff, and impromtu effects . when i was a kid i did a trick pulling the pins apart then used a hankerchief with the pin connected i had two spectators hold the ends and the pin seem to rip right through that about the extent of tricks ...

Is this the Pin through the coin effect?
...think not that all wisdom is in your school. You may have studied other paths, but, it is important to remember that no matter who you are or where you come from, there is always more to learn.

OK, I'm now officially of the opinion that this is a kick*** effect.
The reactions i'm getting are intense. who else does this? have you made up more moves? I've been checking the andrus linking pins booklet for other possible moves. Frank

Hey Frank,
I'm familiar with the Pin Demonium effect, but what is the Piff Paff Poof move? Garrett refers to it in his lecture notes saying, "Optional opening - use 'piff paff poof' move to unlink pins." That's all there is. There's no explanation? You can PM me about it if you want. By the way, you can learn 9 different links and unlinks with ungimmicked pins in the book "Self-Working Table Magic" by Karl Fulves.

The effect "Safety Pin-Up" from Karl Fulves book "Self-Working Table Magic" is the same as "Piff Paff Poof".

well, i guess there's your answer.
i actually don't use Piff Paff Poof because it seems to put a lot of wear on the pins and gives a possible explainaton for what's going on. I skip it.

This is my favorite linking pins effect. Really impromptu and strong. Best to be done one to one or just to a small group in front of you. For larger groups or surrounded, you might want to consider the andrus linking pins.

I just bought the booklet, great stuff. Can't wait to get this routine down well in front of a mirror so I can try it out. I see mention made above of
"By the way, you can learn 9 different links and unlinks with ungimmicked pins in the book "Self-Working Table Magic" by Karl Fulves. " Can anyone confirm that there are safety pin links/penetrations taught in this book in addition to the ones already presented in Garrett's booklet? I'm also interested in eventually expanding this routine.
It takes a big man to cry...... but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.
