I just finished Blankets by Craig Thompson. Wow. I love this medium of art and am happy to see it growing into maturity. This particular work was mind blowing. The magic and pain of life is dealt with, the feel of first love, the agony of faith and the trials of having a family. I've never read a graphic novel like it before. Craig Thompson is both a brilliant writer and illustrator. There were many points in the story that moved me to tears and others to out loud laughter. It's one of the few books I've read recently that I've felt a deep personal connection to. That said if you haven't read it run out and get it. Swallow it all and let it soak through your system. You won't be sorry you did and you won't forget it when you've finished.

Agreed. You might also enjoy Chester Brown's work (Clumsy is one title, and there are a few others), and Adrian Tomine is good too (Sleepwalk, for example).

I've read Maus and I've read a good deal of Frank Miller though not that particular piece. I've loved this particular medium for some time.
