I don't ordinarly do mentalism. But there is one trick that I am working on which might benefit from the use of a product like this. Does anyone have any opinions/knowledge about whether this is a good product or if there are superior ones for a good price. As I said, this would only be used for one trick, and even that, sporadically. So I don't want to spend a lot of money if it isn't necessary.

I'm also interested to hear opinions of this pad. How does it compare with the Janus pad? Tom.

OK...is it a case of nobody having an answer or nobody wants to answer because I am not a mentalist?

First of all Irishguy, welcome to our forumn. While it does help to be an actual mentalist in this forumn, most people posting in here like to analyze and really think about thier responses. I felt awkward when I first made the transition. You are liked and are being listened to and reviewed. I would recommend the Osterlind tapes for doing any mentalism, sounds like you have the right idea to blend the magic with notepad surprise. A lethal combo, I am not ot familiar with this product but if you try patience you will see that our group will welcome you with open arms and all the help you will need to know pretty much anything in mentalism. Enjoy this new chapter of your life OK !

Yes It looks ok but if your going for a notepad check out the Kozar notepad or is it kozar wallet anyway it's absolutly fantastic- different trick but it is fantastic.
1 thing -why do you rip the paper out first and then write?- that doesn't make sense to me. but for 30 bucks its penuts buy it. |

This sounds an awful lot like a product that Mark Strivings sells. If it is, it is done in real-time but there is a set-up, so it's a one-shot deal; like for stage or parlor (though it could be done close-up and possibly surrounded). In that regard it's good.
Mark can be reached at MarkyApril@aol.com. If it isn't exactly that, then he has something close. |

Hi , I do not own the Janus pad but can tell you that I do not like the psychic notepad you are asking about. I previously owned it and there are better alternatives. It is messy.

Hi guys,
I am fairly new to mentalism or magic in general. But looking at the description of this product, I think I know how this work. I bought a similar project before, Invisible Assistant by Shrink. I think the concept should be similar Because both cases, you have to tear of the paper, and let the spectator write on the top of the notepad's cover. I don't think I can reveal the secret, but I think the idea is pretty smart. And for the invisible assistant, once you know the idea, you can produce these notepads yourself with extremely low cost. Hope this helps a bit Philip |

You might want to check out Osterlind and his inexpensive solutions before dumping a lot of loot into something you won't use much...
Janus is expensive, tho it has an improvement in the reading of the info, but cannot be examined much. Invisible Assistant is clever, invisible, can be pretty much freely handled by the spec., but a tad diceyer, sometimes, in the gleaning of info. You also might be interested in picking up a copy of Satan's Bitch from H&R Magic Books for about $5. It might solve your problems for about $1.69 in materials. They only have 12 copies, so they will have a few in stock for a couple of days.

Thank you very much for all your responses. The removal of the paper before it is written upon wouldn't be a problem in the way that I would use it...although I do see how that method could limit any other uses of the product. Especially in a case where someone might decide to write on a different surface rendering the whole thing moot.
Is the invisible assistant the same concept? As far as, would it need to be written on the cover of the notepad as well? Thank you for your input and time. And Clinton Wayne, thank you for the kind words. |

Hi,
About the invisible assistant. Yes, you need to write on one of the harder surfaces (i.e. front or back cover) You cannot just write on top of the other paper sheets. I personally find this tearing and placing it on top of the cover move kind of awkward. But I think it is perfectly good for getting pre-show information. These are just my opinion, hope this helps Philip |

Greetings,
I have acquired both the "psychic notepad" and the "invisible assistant". Without giving too much away I will say that these two products are not even close to being the same thing. The "invisible assistant" is a much better product and much more practical. As for "psychic notepad", it is literally messy to use. It is not practical and, frankly, I have never been more dissapointed with a magic purchase than with this pad. There are a lot better devices available that you should look into before even thinking about this hot, steaming pile. Conlaw |

Heck, IrishGuy...thats just an impression device...no big deal...I can tell you different ways of making the very same thing...I've done it with a pack of matches. By the way, it's possible to do the same thing without the use of the note pad...

Phillip- Have them tear out the page after the writing's done... Just flip the front cover to the back, along with one sheet of paper. Indicate where they should write/draw/etc. They tear it out, you get the pad.

Hi ya, IrishGuy...
Well, there is nothing like experimenting at the kitchen table with different things and trying different things. Then when you hit on the right one...it will be the best quality because you've made it for yourself. that's the fun of making these gimmicks up. |
