Hi Guys
I was recently employed at Australias Star City Casino in Sydney.
As a gaming operator my duties include giving, taking and handling casino chips.
Is there material to be found in this area? Manipulating and flourishes?

Somebody just released a DVD on Chip flourishes. Check Hocus-Pocus' website in the new stuff section.

Sam,
It may be fun for your own personal use, but most Casinos frown upon anything but "straight" handling of chips, cards, etc...

Once management gets the idea that you can perform sleight of hand "vanishes" with their money, you'll never be trusted again.

It also seems appropriate to mention Lee Asher's 3-Stylin' as a pretty neat chip trick. Smile

Somewhat surprising, therefore, that you misspelled croupier.

No flourishes, but Tabman sells a nice-looking line of gaffed casino chips, chip stacks and so on. Take a look at http://www.questx.com/tables/chips.html

Although I still think that the standard Quarter Stack is the best gimmick for a number of reasons, if you are going to do chip effects, this seems to be a good place to start. SETH

LOL @ sam - He did it again...If I'm not mistaken, it's S2000. Multiply yours by 10. To put literally, he's ten times what you had originally thought. Also, I would seriously not consider 'playing' with casino money. Good way to get audited by the IRS. Just a suggestion from second-hand experience.

If you do chip flourishes at a casino gaming table you will soon find yourself looking for work. Not because of fear of underhandedness but because the only skill a casino table operator needs with regards to chips is speed. More hands, more play, time is money. It's your job to keep the game running smothly and quickly, not to show off for the customers. If they wanted to see a show they should've gone to the tired old dove act in the lounge performed by some sparkly mustachioed long haired magi. seriously though, can you imaging how agrivating it would be as a gambler to sit down at a table and the dealer stops the action to say "here let me show you something...SHOW ME SOMETHING!!!??? unless its rolled up aces then you'd better just show me the next hand. Time is money my friend, for gamblers and casinos alike, and if you stop the action to show off your skills (when incidently you should be watching the other players to ensure proper game ediquete and game protection) you'll soon be having a conversation with the pit boss who's replacing you with a faster (ie: more profitable dealer)

Any little "hint" of card/chip deception skill and it's not the IRS audit(especially since he's in Australia), it's "Cousin Guido" you have to worry about.

Okay, just to be fair about it. I still feel that any tricks with Casino money or cards is a bad idea, but if you insist...

http://www.21ace.com/poker_chip_tricks.html

These aren't "tricks" but rather flourishes. The casino may still frown on it, but what you do in your off hours is your own business.

If you are a Dealer of any type of casino game as Dave VanVranken said you will be under the microscope. Casinos do frown on any type of manipulation of that sort at any game. Yes you see poker players do things with their chips but that is about the only time you are going to be able to do it and not have to worry about it.
