Anyone know how this relates to palmistry? In other words, does this study confirm or contradict what palm readers believe?
Also, could anyone recommend any palmistry books or other sources for the most authoritative or accurate information? I know nothing about it but would like to learn more. |

Jim go to the menta-list and look. It is a great place populated by real workers.
I do numberology (as can be seen at JimClass. com ) so cannot help you on this. Besy wishes Jack |

Palmists do not just look at the lines in the hand, but at the shape of the hand, the back of the hand, the knuckles, the length of the fingers as a group and individually, the flexibility of the thumb, the length of fingers relative to each other and on and on.
So the relavance of the above article is true to palmistry. Richard Webster's "Revealing Hands" is a good comprehensive book for a beginner to an intermediate in palmistry. It's most likely the best place to start, and for those with some experience, to get to the next level. This book is not about cold reading, but about palmistry as a oracle and how to use it as such. Is palmistry a mystical or supernatural discipline, or is it, like cold reading, a way to simulate having paranormal ability?

Jim,
Nothing is Paranormal, or supernatural. It cannot be becouse it must conform to our way of perceiving things. That is why I believe Randi is not homest in his Challange. By us percieving it makes it natural. I will put up my cash on the test. Not the definition. Cheers Jack |

I didn't intend to get into your "Challange" on this thread--why not discuss that at the existing thread:
http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......forum=30 A definition of "supernatural" may be of some use: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supernatural |

It certainly is not cold reading at all. The lines, shape, etc. of the hands tell us things and are divination tools. Of the two you mention above, by most people's definitions, true palmistry would be mystical/supernatural. Best regards, Tony Razzano

In my palmistry work, I tell people, (and I read them this way), That their hand holds a sort of roadmap, I have learned how to read the signs on that map, and spot where the interchanges are. Also, like any good road map, there are changes to the roads and intersections ecery so often, so things are dynamic. Do not believe me? make a copy machine print of your hand tomorrow. File it away, and in a year or wso do the same again, and compare the two!
Does finger length play a role!? of course, it gives you part of th dimensions for the hand types- which is supposed to help you with the general personality type- aggressive in business or tasks- pushing through issues and problems, Relaxed and flowing-finding a way around the problems, Creative and finding the solutions to issues and problems, etc. Your fingers giving you concern? I am available for private readings......... ;} Kay

Thanks for the responses. Kay, do you mind if I ask how you learned to read palms? Any recommendations on sources to learn how to do this? How accurate have you found it to be?

Palmistry functions very well by combining cumberlandism and cold reading with it

In palmistry the length of the first finger relates to aggrissiveness. Palmistry can be viewed as the ancient equivenlent of modern day personality profiling. Statisticts are always fun and can be twisted to back up almost any point of view, but the length of the fingers are geneticaly programmed and bio-chemicaly one individual finger can not be lengthened by hormone exsposer. The first finger is known as the Jupiter finger. If this finger is longer than the Apollo ( third finger) it is considered long and represents drive and ambition ie.aggressivness. This can be found on page 193 of Richard Websters book "Revealing Hands". The size of fingers and other body parts are determined through genetic inheritance. This information can be found in any modern day book on genetics. Hormones are general body regulaters and I think it would be considered a leep in speculation that they could make a single finger out grow the rest. As far as palmistry being the time proven ancient equvilent of modern day personality profiling, this is my assertion. Kent

Hi Jimtron,
here is one of the better and very inexpensive resources on hand analysis/palmreading...lots of free stuff...a very cheap intro manual and a large in depth manual that you can buy and downlaod a chapter at a time. http://www.handanalysis.com/palmistry_ctr.html Any of Richard Websters books on the subject are very much worth getting Glenn Just as a follow up to my previous post I just took a look at the handanalysis.com site, the basic manual is 52 pages long, covers the basic stuff and is all of $2.95 in cost with 100% money back.
