Hey there,
I was just watching a Shimada video on manipulation and in his video he talked about using wax on his cards and some people say that the cards stick together but he likes that. What does he mean when he says wax on the cards? What kind of wax is he talking about? Best, Jeff

Take a candle and rub it on the cards (on the back and on the front) untils the card is covered in wax. don't overdue it. You shoud have a thin coat of wax on the cards. Them, take the deck and make a few fans until the wax is spread evenly
and that's it. it was tought to me by mahka tendo that also uses wax on the cards. It's going to be more difficuld to fan them that with fanning powder, but after you get used to it it's great, but the only way for you to know for sure is to try and see if you like it. Hope it helps. Alex

Alex,
Great information. I have used wax on my cards in the past, but I just never liked the feel of it. For me it sticks too much for the moves I like to do and make fluid. Certainly you are right in that every manipulator must try it for him or herself to find out what feels and works best for them. You will only know by taking action and trying. Kyle

An old timer Walter Cummings who was Neil Foster's instructor at Chavez said to rub the cards with Cashere Bouquet soap. I think there is a similar reference in Buckley's.
I think with today's plastic coated cards it probably not used much anymore.

Paul. Mahka is a great guy and I have met and talked with him at several of the national conventions. He will be at SAM Nationals this year. I also have his entire act on video. He has some very great moves and was nice enough to show me some of them.

What do you do with the dirt on cards that appear after you use the card for a while that have been treated with wax. I have UGM wax and it is great but I don`t want to work with dirty cards. I remember what I thought when I saw Yamamoto with such a dirty deck couple of monts ago in Maribor. Any sugestion ?

Kukuchi showed me how to apply wax to playing cards. You rub a candle on the card to put some heavy wax on the cards. Then you work the wax with your fingers spreading it out and smoothing it. I would think your fingers would be quit sore after a complete deck.
The was is becomes somewhat set, and gives like a hard finish. You buff the cards as well. Dirt should come off easily with careful brushing. The only question I have is when it is 100 degrees out and the wax melts. |

I've heard that taking a candle and waxing the cards in an "X" pattern does the job well and doesn't take forever like waxing the entire surface of the card.

In Blakckpool Mahka Tendo explained to take a visacard and scrap it off and do the cards again. this way he can use the cards for months.
