Hi everyone. I bought the Table Hopping Cups&Balls dvd by Carl Andrews. It's a great dvd using only two cups. However, my problem is that the alum. cups I bought from Penguin didn't fit the mini baseballs in the cups. I can't afford to spend 100 bucks for a set of cups, but can anyone suggest a less expensive cups? Also does it need to be a certain dimension in order to accomodate the solid mini baseballs? I see that certain cups have certain groves on it so that the cups sit a little higher? Thanks so much for reading this and please help.

Well don't use the mini baseballs. Use smaller balls. If you don't have any, check out the nearest toy store.

The Bazzar de Magia copper cups have a pretty good attic. They are very nice cups for the price. I will warn you, I had a different trouble with the baseballs. When I did the move you are talking about, the leather would "stick" and it took a while to get it to work well and to get the cups to nest properly. You could also use slightly smaller knit balls.

Use lemons, onions, potatoes, limes, whatever, but they do not have to be huge.

The mini baseballs are smaller than most of the small balls you can get at a toy store in the US. The Bazar de Magia cups do have a lot of attic space, but if you use a normal sized ball, you will have difficulty doing a three ball nest on top of the cups. The attic is high and narrow.
You almost have to work backward on selecting the balls for these things.

I got the balls for my homemade cups and ball set from a local dollar store.
They are a hard sponge like ball made for dogs. I got 4 blue and 3 larger yellow. |

He's looking for help with the small balls. If he does the Andrew's routine he is using sponge balls for the loads.
I think you just need a larger set. Bill is right, the Bazzar cups do have a narrow attic, but for two Mike Rodger's base balls, it is possible (but maybe the narrow attic is why I had some trouble with the baseballs.) I did better with the routine with knitted balls. My problem, is that going from the baseballs to knitted is not fun. They feel very slippery after using the stickier baseballs. So when I got the baseballs, and a decent copper set of cups, I picked up the Ammar book and left the Andrews routine behind.
