Is the current style single breasted or double breasted suit jacket? Also is two buttons or three buttons the norm?
I have a couple double breasted suits, with topits however, I am looking at having a couple suits tailored made. I am in Korea and I can have any type of jackets, suits, shirts, or pants made to include special pockets, topits, sleeve pockets, dividers included. I have been looking through magazines, watching E!, watching Fashion Channel, checking websites, and asking questions to see what should I have made and still I keep coming up with more questions. What is the fashion norm? I perform stage and walk around, birthday parties I normally wear vest and bow tie.

I would stick to single breasted. Double-breasted must be kept buttoned otherwise it looks tacky. Single can be buttoned or left unbuttoned. Frankly, single never goes out of style.

^ I agree. mind you, I'm only 18, but all my suits (and school uniform) are the single-breasted, three button variety. it truly is a versatile, classic form.

I also thought about not wearing a tie and wearing an open collar shirt.

Thanks for the replies. I'm not much a fashion buff I just normally wear polo shirts and docker pants.
I just wanted to make sure I didn't show up as a Leisure Suit Larry kinda guy.

Korean fashions could be very different than here in America.
If your interested in what is currently in style, go to the men stores and see what is for sale in the new suits/jackets. They will be selling current styles.

Since you are in Korea it is time to get all your suits MADE! I was in Korea a long time ago. The best idea for keeping with the times is to go into a a tailor shop and look through the GQ magazines and the like. This will give you a real good idea of what the fashion are now.

I am a large guy, and I look better in a double breasted. It is more of a retro look, but I am a swing dance teacher and a retro look works for performances. It all depends on what you are trying to convey. I do think that stocky guys look sharp in double breasted, but that is just my opinion!
