The character Jordan on the Bernie Mac show is a budding magician. He has posters of Copperfield and Houdini in his room and references to his magic pop up pretty often.
Once when workmen were supposed to be working on Bernies house he found them all being entertained by Jordan in the living room. One time Jordan was vanishing choclate milk in the kitchen an it wound up all over the floor. My favorite was when he was performing at his little sisters birthday party. He did a card to pocket type effect and then his little sister exposed it to everyone, telling how he palmed the card. Jordan went nuts. He screamed; "you told how the trick is done!! That a crime against Magic!! If Houdini were alive today he'd kill you!!! I like that show, anyone else? Vandy

Last night on “Jake in Progress,” Jakes new friend is a magician also. Those performers are very funny but I am somewhat unhappy to see that the prime time television often portrays magicians as fools who cant get it right.
Not a big problem but kind of paints a poor picture of the way our work can be perceived. Hugs and Hissessss, Maria ...and Steve is here too! |

From what I recall, they didn't show the actual trick being performed. The scene was of a backyard party and as the camera came around the kid was just revealing the card. It's not as if they showed the card being selected, lost in the deck and recovered. I wil have to look again, but I don't really remember being struck that exposure had taken place. True the girl said he hid the card but I don't think she even used the word "palmed" I'll watch for it in re-runs and see. Vandy P.S. If you do look at this post again. I know that you are known as a fine photographer. Are you familiar with the photographer that took those classic photos of Del Ray such as appear in the Linking Ring this month? I don't have the name here with me but I've always thought those pics were beautiful. I was wondering if they were taken by a well known photographer.

The guy also founded an anti exposure society that black balls magicians for revealing secrets of the trade. Unfortunately while trying to hide his father from the police he accidently exposes a magic trick and can no longer work in the magic business. Vandy P.S Who is Steve? That giant snake in your picture? LOL
