I couldn't find this anywhere in the forum, so here goes.
Does anyone have / use / know of this effect? Is it wirth the money? The effect sounds pretty funny I guess, but it's $200! How's the re-set?

I "think" he is referring to the handheld device that secretly blows up a new balloon that you have in your hand. Looks like a great MC gag or for a balloon twisting magician.
I do not have one but I think that is what he is asking about? |

Neil Foster used to use this in his Concert in Magic set and it was a very clever and unique idea.

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about S&M. It's on Hank Lee's website. It seems like a cool effect, but dang it....no one seems to USE the thing & very few seem to even know of it!

When Neil Foster used this he picked up two balloons--kept one at his side and put the other one in his mouth---as he strained to blow the one up in his mouth--the one in his hand inflated---he then looked very perplexed---and then he wryly smiled---looked great and very effective.

Possibly this could be used to accomplish a reverse Tonsil Tickler effect as performed by Fielding West.

For a very inexpensive and very effective way to do this...check out the "Greater Magic DVD Comedy Magic" at Hocus Pocus. It is on the Fielding West portion of the DVD...very funny...very easy to do!
I hope this help, Cody S. Fisher MUM Magazine

Sparks that does the Airborne glass effects and confetti cannons sells a device for this which works well and it will cost you less than $100.00 I think he was selling them in Blackpool convention for about £40.00

Oh, I'm sorry I missed this topic before I posted my request for a review on the Sparks Silk Shooter and Inflator on another thread .
I'm working on a routine that has a Self-Inflating Balloon effect at one point and I'm looking for the right device to use. I've read about the Sparks Shooter/Inflator and now reading about the Neil Foster Blow Balloon it sounds as if one of these items might be what I'm looking for. Question to anyone who uses either the Foster Blow Balloon or Sparks' Inflator : Is it quiet ? I think that the effect can't be very mysterious if there is an obvious sound of air hissing as the balloon inflates . I need something that will do the job, but quietly . Here's the dealer blurb about Sparks' device : Unlike other CO2 launcher's that only work once with expensive cartridges, Sparks Silk Shooter and Inflator will work 10 times on one inexpensive cartridge costing you as little as 10 cents per use. No need to order special cartridges, the Silk Shooter and Inflator uses standard paintball/BB gun CO2 cartridges. Spark's Silk Shooter and Inflator will launch a 12 inch silk 10 feet, blast a complete snowstorm in a snap or produce a large non-toxic cloud of smoke from cornstarch. With the special inflator attachment, you can inflate a 260 balloon from your fingertips. Small enough to conceal, this is a truly versatile device. The Sparks Silk Shooter and Inflator comes with both the shooter and inflator attachments |

This item was in my lectures in 1977-85. Sold a few to dealers and David Ginn used it in a few shows.
My method sold for under $10. Called it balloon surprise. It required buying some photographic "dust-off", a brass fitting and some plastic tubing. You held the balloon in one hand on the tubing, and the opposite hand was in the pocket pressing the dust off cap. The tube went up your back and down your sleeve. - You put a balloon in the mouth, prsss the cap and the balloon blew up. ------- I am so sick of $200 gimmicks. When you could watch my lecture and get it as part of the package.

Hey Magicians...
I agree with you on the price of these things...way too much. Any chance of getting a copy of your lecture notes? Best, Al |

Hi,
Like Al was asking, are your lecture notes still available and what is the name of them? Per |
