I would not invest in this until an uncut video was available. Nice idea, but I think anyone purchasing this may be disappointed. I say this because of the edit at the critical point.

I agree with Bill. It's nice to see a different vanish but why the video cut just as the cape is produced? What move is necessary to get the cape around your shoulders? There has to be a significant amount of weight to juggle with the cage and 4 birds inside.

I like the effect, but after watching the vid, I don't think I would invest in it. Not only because of the edit, but also, this seems pritty rough on the birds.

I think the birds are fine. If you look close at the vid, they remain upright and on the perch throughout the entire vanish.

What is the name of that music please? Don't worry I'm NOT going to steal it. I know it's Greg Frewin's much like Vivaldi is Lance Burton's. It's just for personal interest/amusement.
I'm with Dave on the legs, awful bit of kit. Best, Matt |

I think a lot of people have asked this question on other threads. I know I've seen it before. But this is Cirque Du Soleil's "Eclipse." They have some really beautiful pieces of music.

I'm with everyone on this. I would rather invest in a nice doves to rabbit than spend 1800 Euros on it which is roughly $2,813.43 Canadian and $2,319.02 American not to mention shipping and handling from Europe. The editing was horrible because with in those 2 skipped seconds he would have done a move that we might not have liked so...

Magicleland, as I stated before, the birds are fine. They remain upright throughout the entire effect which is more than can be said for other dove effects on the market. The main concern here is what is going on during the edited portion of the vid demo?

I'm not an expert but it looks like a flip over box type production to produce the cape and the doves do stay on the perch. That is a lot of money and from the video it is difficult to tell as to the quality of this prop. Who really wears a cape in magic anymore anyway?

Puppetshows, I think wearing a cape falls into the same category as wearing tails. Not many people wear them either but in some cases, they are both the correct. Dimmare wears both in his dove act. I know several magicians who perform in a phantom of the opera setting and another who works as Dracula. Definetly the correct outfit to wear in both scenarios.
Regardless of the method used to vanish the doves, my concern is what is going on during the edited portion of the video. The handling of a cage and four doves while donning a cape doesn't seem like it would be a smooth action to me.

I asked magic auction about a product they had for sell. A box that turns into a cape effect. I asked if it would hold doves he asked the maker and he said no. Now a few months later he has one. He could at least give me credit for it.

I contacted the company and they answered all my questions and my concerns. For anyone who is interested the birds safety (which is my primary concern) is not an issue. The doves are not "slung over" as in a tip over vanish...in this version they are dropped a few inches into a cloth bag. They assurred me that the birds are completely safe!
I hope this help, Cody S. Fisher MUM Magazine

Hi Matt,
Regarding the music used in the video posted above, Christopher is right it is Cirque Du Soleil's "Eclipse". Here's another link to a thread regarding a video demo using the same kind of music.

Michael,
The really bad news is that I am waiting for someone older than me to say, "Bob, you were too late. We had it ready to go and the Yankees fired on Fort Sumter and started that war!" There's really not much new in magic! However, there are new people entering with new enthusiasm all the time. They help keep my batteries charged. Nothing promotes discovery like discovery. Michael, keep up the good work. I've really enjoyed watching you grow and succeed. Bob Magic By Sander |
