Ok, here's one for the mix. As the price is quite close, which of these two models would you consider if purchasing a sub trunk for the first time.
The Chalet "Packing Box" model or the Charvet "Jack Gwynne ATA case model"? I am in no way looking to ask if one is better than the other. It's quite clear that they are both excellent models. Just, what's the opinion of most of you who have had some better experience than I. And, before I make the investment, I want to be armed with as much knowledge as possible. Many thanks and I look forward to your commment. |

There is a MAJOR MAJOR difference in operation of these two models. if you are going for speed get the chalet. I would only get the charvet if I was doing through a one inch hole from the steinmeyer book Device and illusion. that is the gimmick on that gwyn style trunk which was normally done with a wheeled curtain. by no means does it facilitate the speed in switch like the chalet crate. Mark Evans does Fine Fine work I own a Ten second table and I LOVE IT but if you are looking for a trunk for a more modern presentation of sub trunk go with the Chalet version.

I also believe only the Chalet model can be broken down for transporting.

Gentlemen,
Thank you for the comments thus far. Let me ask this....I will most likely be using this as an escape rather than a switch with my partner (wife). Does that make a difference on the choice of trunk? Appreciate your thoughts. |

A choice is also by personal prefrence. and by price. both are by good makers. but the actual choice is a personal one.

If you are doing just an escape why not do a sack escape or mail bag escape? It would pack much better.

Richard,
Good point. You're quite right about packing smaller. But.....let's just say....the bug has bitten me and I'm absolutely dying to use/own a sub trunk, which direction would you say, the Chalet or Charvet? I'm really just curious of different magi's opinions at this point. Don't worry, you're not going to ruin a sale or a maker's rep one way or another. |
