The Phantom of the Wallet
USA: http://www.hanklee.org/xcart/customer/pr......p;page=1 – 30$ UK: http://www.martinbreese.com/phantom.htm - 18£ The effect: A card is selected and signed by a spectator. The performer introduces a wallet with two blank cards inside. These cards are examined, placed back into the wallet, and the wallet is closed. When the performer opens the wallet again, the name of the selected card has appeared on the blank cards. And finally, the signed card appears inside the wallet. What you get: A nice leather wallet, which is prepared for this effect, two blank cards, and a 6-page-booklet with clear instructions. The wallet is a kind of Z-fold wallet with a zipper compartment on each side. The performer should know how to force a card (a simple but strong method is explained in the instructions). Value for money: In my opinion, this is one of the best no-palming card-to-wallet effects. The instructions provide you with an excellent routine which contains of two climaxes; you can use the routine perfectly to tell a story about spirits and how you, the performer, can make their actions visible for the spectators. There is an other element in the routine that I like very much: very often these kind of effects require that the deck has to be brought in contact with the wallet - you don't have to do this here. The deck and the wallet stay separated throughout the whole routine. A word about the wallet: it doesn’t look like an everyday wallet – there are no compartments for credit cards, coins or banknotes. But the routine is not build on the premise that you produce the card from you everyday wallet, so I see no problem in that - for the spectators it is unexpected that the signed card appears inside the wallet, because for them the effect is about the two blank cards. One last point: although the card can be removed from the zipper compartment by the spectator, the wallet is not examinable. Overall, this is a very good effect, especially for the close-up performer or for performances on a small stage. So I’m forced to give this effect a rating of 9. The routine is excellent, and deals perfectly with the typical problems on no-palming card-to-wallet effects (deck and card never come into contact: finding the signed card in the wallet is a complete surprise). On the negative side I count that the wallet is not examinable (which is not really a problem in my eyes, because the focus is not on the wallet). And I think a Himber Wallet would have been a better choice for the wallet than a Z-fold wallet. But well…….. To put it in a nutshell, this effect is (in my opinion) highly underrated for its impact. I carry it with me all the time...... Magixx

I didn't care for the video on this trick. The blank cards coming onto the deck before going into the wallet was too obvious for me.

Maybe for you, but what about your spectators. to be honest, when I saw this video I knew how the card was loaded. but all my spectators were surprised, and that's what I want.
