Thanks, I showed the link to my girlfriend, and she gave me the look of death.
But somehow she isn't suprised, although we are older than some, we are still eternally twelve and laugh at stuff like this. Then again that's possibly the reason that I don't do kids shows. |

Magic Inc. used to have a couple of books, called bar room balloons. Check with them on that.

Quote: I once got one of the Bar Room Balloons books. It was a disappointment. I also tried another one; I believe that it is the ONLY item for balloons that I have ever returned. It wasn't even worth the cheap/$5 price.

There was an "Adult Themed" Balloon book released back in 1975 called
"BLUE PENCIL BALLOONS" (part 3 of All Wind & Twists) by Doug "Bloony" Brearley. Published by Playtime Balloons, Bridlington, England. =Frank=
The Early Bird may get the Worm, but it's the SECOND Mouse that gets the CHEESE!!!

"Bar Room Balloons" is nasty without the redeeming quality of humor, style or intelligence - sort of the ballooning equivalentr of a "Tijuana bible" - I'd look anywhere else but there.

Ross, I'll admit that you are certainly entitled to your own opinion, but to compare BAR ROOM BALLOONS to a "Tijuana bible" is a bit of a stretch, to say the least. This book was written by Roger Siegel, a respected name in ballooning, and first published by Magic, Inc. in 1974 with a forward written by Frances Marshall. Personally, in this day and age, I think most of the visual humor comes across as more quaint than pornographic. And the one-liners in the back of the book still get laughs with most of them appropriate for all audiences. By the way, the sculptures in the book are all balloon dogs, not people.
Facade, if you choose to persue making adult balloon sculptures, then please be able to read your audience. Even adults in a bar may not be in the mood for this type of sculpting. In a roving situation, I always made darn sure that my audience wanted this type of entertainment before I started. As a matter of fact, my adult routines always opened with a solid two or three minutes of comedy (with no balloons) so that I could size up the audience. If they were in the mood for adult, then I went with it and, if not, then I had good clean material that I would perform instead. This approach never failed me and my audiences always had fun. Good luck. |
